So that's what I'm doing. For once in my life, I'm trying not to worry. I'm having faith that things will work out the way they're supposed to work out. It might blow up in my face, but I don't think it will. I don't think Theo will allow that to happen. If anyone can restore order to the world, I think it's him.

"Go, Wes!" Laney yells, jumping to her feet when her husband takes off down the ice with the puck dancing along the end of his stick. He skates hard, quickly closing the distance between him and Logan, who is in the goal at the far side.

I watch, fascinated as he takes a shot on the goal, sending the puck flying through the air. Logan throws himself to the left, catching the puck in his glove. It hits the padded mitt hard enough that I hear it even from here.

"That is so cool," I whisper, making Laney laugh quietly.

"Do you know much about hockey?"

"No." I grimace, feeling guilty. "I watch the games but I'm never sure what's happening."

"Don't worry," she says, squeezing my hand. "Theo is like a walking encyclopedia of hockey facts. You'll be a pro in no time with him to teach you."

I want to learn. I want to know everything about him and this game he loves so much.

"Ah, crap," Laney mutters, looking at something off to the left.

I follow her gaze. There's a blonde woman coming our way. She's moving quickly, as if she's on a mission. Even though it's cold in here, she's dressed in a business suit and high heels. I'd probably die if I tried to walk as fast as she is in heels. It's almost like she's trying to avoid notice.

"That's Jamie Knight," Laney says. "She's a reporter."

"Oh," I whisper, wariness shooting through me.

We watch in silence as she crosses the arena to us. She seems friendly enough, but I'm not falling for it. There were reporters outside the gates again this morning. Theo just shrugged it off. It's kind of creepy that people get paid actual money to follow other people around and take pictures of them to sell on the internet.

"Hey," Jamie says when she finally reaches us. She hugs Laney and then smiles at me. She's pretty, with big gray eyes and dimples in each cheek. Her business suit hugs her curves, making her seem way more put together than I've ever been. "You're Theo's girl."

"Jamie," Laney says, a warning in her voice.

"I am," I say, holding her gaze. She can tell the world if she wants. I don't care. I am Theo's, and he's mine. I'm done fighting it. If she wants to turn us into a news story, at least she'll know the truth and can't just make up whatever story she wants like everyone else is doing.

"I'm Jamie," she says, holding out her hand for me to shake. "It's nice to meet you."

"I'm Charlotte." I shake her hand, which makes Laney fidget beside me.

"Charlotte," she says and then she glances over her shoulder at the guys on the ice. They're mostly done practicing now and are just goofing off. Jonas stands stock still in the middle of the ice, staring at her. She blushes when she notices and quickly pulls her gaze away from him. "Um, I just wanted to say hi."

"Hi," I whisper, watching as Jonas skates in our direction, scowling like he's angry.

"Crap," Jamie mutters under her breath. "I gotta go. It was nice to meet you."

I open my mouth to tell her bye, but she's already scurrying away.

"That was weird," Laney whispers. "She's usually way nosier than that. I expected her to start grilling you about Theo. She always seems to know everything that happens around here."

"Jonas!" Wes shouts. "Where the fuck are you going, man?"

I look up to see Jonas charging across the ice after Jamie like an angry bull. She's practically sprinting to get away from him.

"Stop right there, baby girl," he growls at Jamie, his deep voice booming across the ice.

Jamie immediately stops running.

Jonas skates all the way up the boards and then stops in front of her, throwing up ice from the blades of his skates. He says something quietly, making her shake her head.

"Holy shit," Laney whispers, gaping at the two of them. "Are they dating?"

I don't know, but they're definitely doingsomething. I saw the way Jamie looked at him. She's in love with him. I should know because I wear that same exact expression whenever I look at Theo. They're polar opposites but when Jonas leans over the boards to touch her face, she melts into his touch. Jonas is a giant. He's the biggest man on the team. He may be the biggest man I've ever seen. But he touches her face like she's delicate crystal.
