I wait for the pill to dissolve and then sip it slowly.

"You know, don't you?" I finally whisper. "That I'm sick, I mean."

"I know." He sits beside me, his hands clasped together between his knees. "I've always known."

I nod, not surprised. I kind of figured my dad told him before he died.

"I, um…I need to talk to you tomorrow. Officially." I lick my lips, smoothing my jersey down over my hips.

Coach doesn't need me to spell it out for him. He's probably been waiting for this for a while. His face falls. "Shit, Kelsey," he growls. "You're sure?"

"Sure enough." I don't think I can deny it anymore. I'm getting sick again. Soon, there won't be any hiding it. I can't be here when that happens. I'll just be a distraction, and that's the last thing the guys need right now. I have to leave.

Coach sighs heavily, shaking his head. "Come see me in the morning, sweetheart. We'll figure it out."

"Thanks, Coach."

"I'm going to send Stan to drive you home." He pauses. "Unless you'd rather Kris drive you."

"No." I shake my head quickly. "Stan is fine."

Coach opens his mouth like he wants to say something and then thinks better of it. He sighs again and climbs to his feet. "Eat something, Kels. Your dad would have kicked my ass for letting you waste away."

"I will," I promise.

Chapter Four

Kris

"Ican't play today."Gray throws himself onto the bench beside me with a miserable groan. "My whole body still hurts from last night."

"If you weren't a kinky bastard, you wouldn't have that problem." Wes kicks the side of Gray's skate, smirking. "You're supposed to stick to the vanilla shit during Playoffs."

"Who's having vanilla sex?" Jonas asks.

"Wes," Gray says. "Apparently his sex life is boring as hell and Laney is miserable because we made Playoffs."

Jonas booms laughter.

The smirk slides from Wes's face. "I did not say any of that bullshit," he growls in protest. "I saidyou'resupposed to stick tovanilla. I can handle a little pain. You cry like a bitch when you pull a muscle."

I sigh heavily, trying to tune out my teammates as they bicker back and forth about their sex lives and who is the bigger baby. It's an old argument no one ever wins. The sad fact is Kelsey has the biggest pair on the team…and she's not even technicallyonthe team. But all it takes is a single glare from her to remind the whole team that they're overgrown babies.

"So, who is it, Kris?" Gray asks.

"Both of you."

Wes scowls at me, his gray eyes narrowed. "You weren't even listening, were you?"

"Nope, but if he's asking which of you is the biggest idiot, my answer remains unchanged."

Gray shakes his head, fighting a smile. Jonas laughs. Wes just shoots me another glare.

"Stop fucking around and hit the ice. We have practice."

"Can't start practice without Coach." Theo skates up to the boards with Kellan Alexander in tow. "He's in a meeting with Kelsey."

"Who fucked up this time?" Kellan asks.
