He shakes his head, his eyes still narrowed on me. "I'm not hiding you, angel. We're together. Anyone who doesn't like it can get fucked." He pulls me back into his arms, planting another hard kiss on my lips. "We gotta go."

"Okay," I mumble, letting him pull me toward the garage in a daze.

He helps buckle me into the passenger seat of his car and then runs back inside to get his duffle bag. A few seconds later, he slides in beside me. My mind is still spinning. This thing between us is moving at the speed of light. And it's not nearly as terrifying as I think it logically should be. The thought of everyone knowing we're together is a little overwhelming, but he's not wrong. They're all going to find out sooner or later.

"I'm sorry for freaking out," I say. "I just…this is all so fast and new."

"We can take baby steps," he says, smiling at me. He reaches for my hand, pressing a kiss to my knuckles. "I know this is a lot and it's overwhelming. I don't want to scare you off when I just found you. I'll ask her not to post the photo."

"Thank you," I whisper, relieved.

He kisses my fingers and then releases me, reaching for his phone again. A couple seconds later, he tosses it in the console and grins at me. "Done."

"Thank you."

He grabs my hand again, linking our fingers together on the console while hitting the garage door button with the other hand. A couple seconds later, the garage slides open. We both exhale a relieved breath when we make it to the gates and there isn't a line of paparazzi waiting for us.

We're both quiet as we head across town to my apartment. It's not awkward or uncomfortable though. It's…peaceful. Being with him is so strange. He calms me down and makes me crazyat the same time. I feel so comfortable around him, like I've known him forever. He makes me ridiculously happy.

I want to keep that feeling to myself for a little while before we share it with the rest of the world. I want to keephimto myself before I share him with the rest of the world. I don't want anything messing this up, and I'm afraid something will.

"You're not mad, are you?" I whisper, suddenly worried.

"Never," he promises, glancing at me. "I want everyone to know you're mine, but I can wait. I'm not going to risk messing this up."

"You're not messing anything up."

He grins at me.

The ball of anxiety in my stomach settles…until we get to my apartment and I have to say goodbye. Weston walks me to the door and then gives me a lingering kiss. I can tell he doesn't want to go. I don't want him to go either. He hasn't even left, and I already miss him.

"I love you," he whispers, pressing his lips to my temple.

"I love you too." I cling to him for a long minute, breathing him in, trying to memorize the way his hard body feels against mine and the way he smells like soap and the outdoors.

"I'll call you before the game."

"Okay."

He kisses me again and then sighs heavily and pulls away. He looks at me, his gray eyes full of heat, and then shakes his head. "Lock the door behind you, angel."

"Okay. Bye, Wes." I unlock the door and throw myself inside before I manage to convince myself to go to Miami. The door closes between us. I lean up against it, groaning.

"Hey."

I jump, my eyes flying open.

Addison's curled up on the couch with my cat, Hat Trick, on her lap. She looks up at me. Hat Trick ignores me, totally contenton Addison's lap. She lets him bully her into doing whatever he wants. I don't let him boss me. Okay, that's a lie. I let him boss me all the time.

"Hey." I lock the door and kick my shoes off before flinging myself down beside her.

"What's wrong?"

"He asked me to go to Miami. I said no." I press my hands to my cheeks, staring at her with wide eyes. "Why did I say no?"

"Whydidyou say no?"

"I don't know," I groan. "Saying no made sense at the time."
