"No?"

He shakes his head, reaching for the door handle. "I'm not asking you, angel. You're marrying me. End of discussion."

"But I wanted to say yes," I say, pouting.

"You can scream it when I'm inside you later." He opens the bathroom door.

"Oh my god!" I shout, letting go of his shoulders to slap my hands over my eyes. There is penis everywhere. Everywhere! Half the guys on the team are undressed, or in the process of it.

They all stop talking at once.

"Whoa," someone says.

"Motherfucker," Weston growls, stepping back into the bathroom and slamming the door closed behind us.

"Hey, Laney!" Theo shouts through the door.

I bury my face in Weston's throat, laughing hysterically.

I love hockey. And Valentine's Day.

And I definitely love my bossy hockey star.

Six Years Later

"Daddy, daddy!" Alexis yells, running toward me with her little backpack bouncing up and down on her back and her blonde curls bouncing around her face.

I kneel down on the ground outside her class, holding my arms open for her.

"You're home!" she squeals, running right into my arms. She flings hers around my neck to hug me.

"I told you he was coming home today, love bug," Laney says, laughing quietly at my side. She has our two-year-old in her arms. He's covered in chocolate. So is my wife since he keeps trying to feed her pieces of the chocolate heart he drooled all over.

"I misseded you!" Alexis yells, making me feel like a superhero.

I swear, there is no better feeling than knowing your wife and kids missed you while you were gone. I love coming home to them after being on the road. I feel like a fucking rockstar every time.

Laney, Alexis, and Deacon are always so excited to see me. Laney and Alexis talk a million miles a minute, rambling about everything that happened while I was gone. Deacon doesn't say much, but he gives me this big, toothy grin and lifts his arms, demanding to be picked up.

I retired from the NHL before Deacon was born…sort of. I work as the associate mentor for the Predators now, helping to train and guide new players. I travel with them when I can, but not nearly as much as I did as a player. My family always comes first, but hockey is in my blood. Luckily, my wife understands. She never played the game, but it's in her blood too.

"I missed you too, baby girl," I chuckle, kissing Alexis on her little round cheek. She looks so much like Laney. She has my wife's white-blonde hair, bright blue eyes, and sweet smile. She definitely has her little attitude. My daughter is sassy and independent. If she doesn't like something, she's quick to let you know.

Laney's worried that she's too bossy, but I'm not. My girl knows her own mind. I sleep better at night knowing she isn't afraid to stand up for herself. Especially now that she's in kindergarten. There are rough and tumble little boys all over the place. If they hurt my daughter, they'll answer to me.

"It's Balentine's Day, daddy!" Alexis says.

"It is, is it?"

"Uh-huh." She squirms for me to let her go, reaching for her backpack. "I got lots of balentines. Wanna see?"

"Let's look at them when we get home, baby girl," I murmur. "Your mama needs to get off her feet."

We found out two months ago that she's pregnant again. Some women were made for motherhood. My wife is one of those women. She's beautiful all the time, but she's radiant when she's pregnant. It's a never-ending source of stress for me. Men are always trying to flirt with her. Nothing pisses me off more than some motherfucker trying to encroach on my territory and take what's mine.
