Page 60 of Playing for Keeps

Down, boy, down.

I quickly run through the worst things I can think of—like Jonas naked on a Zamboni or Rhonda throwing up all over me or hearing Weston's sex noises when he drags Laney off after a game. My dick resists the torture for a minute and then slowly shrinks.

I rise to my feet and cross the office in two steps, eager to get close to this little goddess.

"Hello, Camila," I murmur, reaching for her hand. As soon as I touch her, all my work goes right to hell. Her skin is soft and delicate. She smells like honey and those spicy little candies I used to love. She shocks me, or I shock her. I'm not sure. But electricity zips between her and me, and my dick pops back up, pressing against my zipper like my baby sister's husky when he smooshes his fat head through the bars of his crate seeking attention. "It's nice to meet you. Kelsey forgot to mention that you're fucking beautiful."

"I, um…" She stutters to a stop when I lean over and kiss the back of her hand. I feel the way her heart skips a beat and then starts racing though. She likes me.

"Gray, what the hell?" Kelsey says, snatching Camila's away from me like I just tried to dry hump her up against the wall or something.

"What?"

"You're being weird," Kelsey whisper-hisses. "Stop it."

"I was just saying hello."

"Yeah, like a creep." She glares at me, her eyes narrowed in suspicion. "You need a publicist. Stop trying to scare this one away."

Scare her away? I'm trying to make her fall in love with me. Clearly, I'm not doing a good job if Kelsey can't tell the difference. Fuck. Maybe I should ask Weston for advice. Laney fell for his surly ass. I'm not even surly. Except for in the mornings.

"It's fine," Camila says, waving Kelsey off. "I don't scare easily. Besides, you warned me that he was a little intense."

"Intense? I am not intense." Maybe intensely turned on. But I can't say that.

"You punched your last publicist," Camila reminds me.

Shit. She knows about that?

"What the fuck, Kelsey?" I growl, glaring at her. I want this woman to take me on as a client, not flee into the night. Or the morning. Whatever. I don't want her running off before I have a chance to convince her to fall in love with me. And so far, Kelsey is not helping me out.

Next time, I'm meeting Camila alone.

"What? It's not like she didn't already know," Kelsey says. I think she's enjoying this. She's smiling. "The whole world saw you punch him, Gray. It got you suspended, and it was all over the news, remember?"

"He deserved it," I mutter.

"I met him a few times. He made me want to punch him in the face too," Camila says with a sultry little laugh that makes my heart turn flips in my chest.

"I like her way better than you right now," I inform Kelsey before taking a tiny step closer to Camila, who is already crowded up against the door. I can't help it though. I want to be all up in her personal space with her. It smells like honey and candy and feels like lazy summer days. That's way better than my personal space. I play a physical sport with twenty-two other overgrown men. My personal space usually smells like swamp ass and beer farts...neither of which belong to me.

"That's because you don't know me yet," Camila says, her expression turning serious as she tips her head back to look up at me. "I'm tougher than I look, and I don't take shit, Gray. My clients trust me because they know I'll work my butt off for them. But I expect them to work just as hard to keep their images intact."

"Mine is intact," I mumble.

She gives me an exact replica of the look Kelsey gives me all day every day.

"Mostly," I add.

"Right now, people feel sorry for you," she says. "But sympathy only goes so far. Punching people on camera isn't a good look for anyone, even if he did deserve it."

"You were watching?"

"I do my homework," she sniffs.

"You researched me," I say, grinning like an idiot.

"Of course I did." She looks at me like I'm crazy. "If I'm going to saddle myself to a lunatic, I'd like to know upfront."
