I blink, trying to figure out what I missed.

"Oh no," I whimper when I see my face on the big screen. No. No freaking way.

"You won!" Addison says, dragging me out of my chair in her excitement. Everyone in our section turns to look at us. The whole freaking stadium turns to look at us.

Everyone is staring at me, clapping, and cheering.

I'm going to throw up.

The little blonde on the ice hands Weston the microphone. This is his fault. I don't know how he did this, but I'm positive it was him. My Spidey sense is tingling.

"Laney Briggs," he says into the microphone. Even though he's grinning, he's clearly uncomfortable. "Will you be my Valentine?"

"Aww," the crowd says all at once.

I'm definitely going to throw up.

"No," I mouth.

Half the crowd laughs, the other half gasps in horror.

Crap. I was supposed to say yes, wasn't I?

"Ah, come on, cutie pie," Weston says, undaunted by my rejection. "Please be my Valentine?"

I hate hockey. I'm never coming to another game ever again.

"You have to say yes," Addison says, nudging me.

That was not part of our deal. I agreed to enter the contest. I did not agree to go out with the arrogant jerk.

I shake my head, refusing to budge.

The crowd cracks up as if they think this was planned or something.

Weston laughs off my rejection, sending a wicked smirk my way. "You're breaking my heart here, angel. Don't make me beg."

"I like begging."

As soon as the words leave my lips, my cheeks burst into flames.

Weston is too far away to hear me, but the people around me do. They crack up laughing, which makes him grin even wider.

"You're going to make me work for it, aren't you?"

I nod.

"Smart girl," he says and then he exhales a nervous breath. "Laney Briggs, I don't deserve a date with you, but I'm asking anyway. Please say you'll be my Valentine and put me out of my misery."

"Say yes! Say yes!" the crowd starts chanting.

Jesus.

"Don't make me kidnap you, angel," Weston says. "Kelsey will kick my a…butt."

The blonde beside him nods vigorously.

Weston stares at me, patiently waiting for me to give him an answer. Even though he's smiling, there's a silent plea in his eyes, one that quickly unravels my willpower and my sanity. He's actually begging me to say yes. Probably because he doesn't want to be publicly humiliated. I think he's serious about the kidnapping thing though.
