“But…the bags,” she mumbles.

“Someone will get them. There are important things we need to discuss.” I lift her into my arms and kick open the door before making my way up the stairs.

“Y-you want to talk?” There’s a note of disappointment in her voice, and I fight the smile that’s trying to creep up.

I grunt a non-reply as we step through the threshold of our bedroom. Yes,ourbedroom. While in the hospital, I had my men move all of Alessa’s things into the master. There’s no way I’d let her sleep anywhere else now that I have her, anyway. Placing her on the bed, I kneel and gently slip off her shoes one by one.

“I don’t bow for anyone,” I say, stroking the sole of her foot. “I don’t kneel for anyone,” I continue letting my hands slide up her legs and hook under the waistband of her leggings. “But you,Fata. For you, I’m on my knees. I have never been so scared in my entire life.” I press my face against her stomach, trying to take control of my breathing.

Her fingers dig into my hair. “Scared of what?” Her voice is just above a whisper.

“Of losingyou. You know, I never believed in love. I know now it’s because no one else could make me feel the way you do. No one could lay claim to my heart because it has always been yours.” I suck in a breath.

“Dante—”

“I love you, Alessa. Like a fool.”

She chuckles, “Like a fool?”

I shake my head, looking up into her eyes. “I love you like a fool because every breath I take, I take for you. When you’re not around, there’s a storm inside, tearing my world apart, and all I can do is pray for your calm. You’re my chaos, a mix of passion and pain I can’t control, and I should be terrified because I crave control. But I crave you more, Alessa. I crave your smile, your touch, your taste…”

“Dant—”

“You are my reason for living, baby. Don’t you ever put yourself in danger like that ever again.” Hooking my finger into the waistband of her leggings, I pull them down her smooth legs. “People are terrified of me. They think I’m ruthless. And they’re right,Fata, I’d burn this fucking world to the ground if you weren’t in it. Do you understand?”

She nods

“So if you want the world to be a safe place. If you want peace, you better live a long and happy life.”

“With you…” she whispers.

“Is that a question?”

“No, Dante. I want to live my life with you.” She lifts her arms, letting me pull her loose sweater off.

“Good, because I’m not sure I’d be able to let you go if you didn’t.” I press a soft kiss over the bandage covering her wound.

“I love you, too,” she whispers, making my heart soar. “But—” she bites her lip.

Standing up, I pull my t-shirt off and undo the buttons on my jeans. Alessa reaches out, her fingers tracing my taut muscles above the waist.

“No buts.” I push my jeans down, freeing my already hard for her cock.

“I don’t want to be the reason there’s a rift between you and the other families,” she gasps as I lean over her, gently laying her on the bed.

“Fata.” I pull off her panties. “Nicolosi declared war the minute he took you. Now, I’d rather not talk about it when you’re naked under me,” I continue, slowly moving up her body and placing small kisses on her skin.

“But…the contract,” she shivers when I lick her hip.

“You’re the only person I’m marrying.” I close my mouth over her nipple, biting it gently, then licking the sting away.

“Dante,” Alessa gasps.

“No more talking,Fata. Let me take care of my fiancée.”

“What—” she moans when my fingers find her soaked pussy. “What about…dirty talking?”

My lips lift into a half smile. That sort of talking is always allowed. But I don’t reply, finding her lips instead.
