His eyes look wild as he stares back at me. It’s if he can’t keep up with his own thoughts. “But what if I hadn’t made that choice? What if I did that and then you killed yourself just like your mom, what if?—”

“Baby, stop,” I plead. “I wouldn’t have?—”

“No, no,” he stutters, talking over me. His hands clutch my cheeks. “It would have been my fault. That’s why I ran that night at the party, Charlie. I saw it all flash before my eyes, and it broke my fucking heart because it turns out I love you. My feelings were so certain. So powerful. So overwhelming. It terrified me. I couldn’t admit it then, but I can now. I love you.”

My mouth falls open, and my tears feel too hot as they slip from my eyes.

“I was always drawn to you,” he says, his thumbs grazing over my cheeks. “I would watch you when we were kids at your parents’ parties, too chicken to say anything. You were just ten the first time I noticed you, this spunky little girl with the sparkly Chucks.” His mouth twitches at the corner, and I almost smile.

“Lincoln, listen to me,” I say firmly, wiping water and tears from my eyes. “You and Matt are not the same. Yes, your intentions were shitty, but guess what? We all have those moments, but it’s the choices we make afterward that ultimately decide what kind of people we are. And you? You’re the best kind of person—to me at least. You make me whole. You make Trey whole. You’re everything to us, Lincoln, and I love you too. So fucking much.”

His eyes bounce between mine frantically, and his grip on my face tightens. “I’m so fucked-up.”

“We’re all fucked-up, baby. But that’s what makes us human.”

He kisses me then, and my head spins. Every one of my senses heightens as our lips, slippery with the soft taste of rain, collide. The earthy smells of trees, grass, and soil mingle with Lincoln’s distinct sandalwood scent in a heady, addictive mix, pushing me past rational thought. I press my body against his, feeling his already-hard cock pressing against my core. He responds immediately, pulling us impossibly closer and lifting me off the ground. I wrap my legs around his waist. He stumbles, but we don’t break our kiss as he walks us backward until I feel the rough bark of my favorite oak tree push into my skin.

My hands are everywhere—in his hair, squeezing his biceps, reaching for the impressive bulge in his thin, wet joggers. He groans when I grip his length, thrusting his hips toward me, and I increase the pressure and give another firm pull.

“Fuck,” he breathes, pulling back.

I remove my hand reluctantly and place it on his hip. Our foreheads press together as we catch our breath, both of us shaking with so much pent-up lust that it's almost painful.

“I hate that I didn’t find you years ago, Link. But when we locked eyes at the bonfire, I was a goner. You have my full attention, baby, and I never want to look away. You’re it for me. End of story. Don’t ever doubt us again.”

“So bossy,” Link says with a chuckle before he leans in and kisses me softly. “Never. I’ll never doubt us again. Promise.”

His words ignite a fire in my veins. “Your room,” I breathe. “I need you to fuck me. Right now.”

Link drops me so fast, an embarrassing shriek leaves my lips and his hand crushes mine as he yanks me toward the Wolf Building. We’re both laughing as we enter, our wet runners squeaking on the smooth foyer floors. A few people look at us curiously as we stagger to the elevator. I’ve never felt this with him—light and free—as if we’re in the final moments of some nineties romcom with our happily-ever-after in sight.

As soon as the door opens, I push Link roughly inside, and we collapse against the wall, kissing sloppily as we paw at each other, all kinds of obscene noises falling from our lips.

“Shit, Sunshine,” Link pants. “If you keep this up, I’m going to blow my load before we even get to the good stuff.”

I laugh, stepping back as the elevator door opens, and we practically run to his dorm room, which Trey thankfully left unlocked. Link yanks my hoodie over my head before the door even clicks closed and tosses it across the room, where it lands with a wet plop.

We’re both eager to strip, but our clothes, as soaking wet as they are, are much harder to remove than normal, and we end up stumbling around as we try to peel the soggy garments from our bodies. Link’s sweats twist over his feet, and he falls backward, landing on the ground with a loud “Oof.” And, being graceful as always, I trip over his legs, my arms windmilling as I land against his hard chest.

A fit of giggles shakes my body, followed by Lincoln's deep laughter, and that’s how Trey finds us when he steps out his room—wet, half-naked, laughing messes on the living room floor.

“What the actual fuck is happening?” he mutters, which just triggers me further until I’m laughing so hard my abs hurt and I can hardly breathe.

Lincoln kicks his sweats the rest of the way off and stands up, scooping me off the ground with him. “We’re just gonna go fuck,” he says with a smirk as he cradles me to his chest.

“Aw, can I come?” Trey whines as we disappear down the hallway.

“Hurry up,” Link yells, and I laugh as Trey starts pulling clothing off, leaving a trail down the hall.

CHAPTER FORTY-SEVEN

LINCOLN

We’re both in our underwear by the time we get to my bedroom, and Trey shuts the door, giving me a knowing grin.

Charlie cries out in surprise when I turn and toss her onto my bed so hard that she bounces before I lean over her, my body spreading her legs, which she instinctively wraps around my waist. I stare down at her a moment, her green eyes bright and molten as she stares back.

The tips of her fingers feather along my back and down my spine, leaving trails of ticklish heat. An involuntary shiver of pleasure wracks my whole body. That simple touch shouldn’t affect me so much, but my cock is already rock hard and aching, precum soaking the front of my boxers.
