“Yes and no. I know I shouldn’t have blown up at Lincoln like that?—”

“Except the prick totally deserved it,” Fi interrupts, raising an eyebrow.

“Agreed,” I say. “But something else is going on there. I want to find out what.”

“Maybe it had something to do with you sleeping with his best friend?” Fiona says pointedly.

Could Lincoln be jealous?

I flush. “I dunno. Maybe. Lincoln just doesn’t seem like the jealous type. I even heard a rumor the other day about how they shared some chick.”

“What?!” Fi practically screams.

My hands slip on the wheel, and I almost swerve into the shoulder. “For the love of Christ! Don’t scare me like that.”

“Sorry,” she says, her hand resting over her heart. “I might have to do some digging into that rumor.” Her fingers tap against her collarbone before she gives me a saucy smile. “But lucky girl, am I right?”

“I’m sure it’s just a rumor,” I say, pointedly ignoring her question.

“Honestly, though Charlie, you need to guard your heart around those two.” She gives me a serious look. “They’re hot as sin, but neither one of them has a reputation for being the good guy. Though I will say they act differently around you sometimes—Lincoln especially, like he’s fighting with some sort of emotional shit in his head.”

I make a face. “Let’s not talk about them anymore. Let’s just have a fun weekend so I can forget that there are two confusing assholes and a shitload of schoolwork waiting for me when I get back.”

Fiona smiles. “You got it, babe.”

CHAPTER TWENTY-ONE

TREY

I've been feeling antsy ever since Link and I talked yesterday about sharing Charlie. Not because I don’t want it to happen, but because I do. I’m actually kind of nervous about it, and it’s starting to freak me out.

So I’ve turned to alcohol.

I’m already six beers deep, and I’m switching to liquor to speed up the process.

I place the whisky bottle back on the coffee table and tuck my legs under my body. Then, I pull a blanket over my shoulders like a cape and take a large gulp of the liquid.

I sigh when it burns down my throat.

Perfect.

The way I’ve been thinking about Charlie is new. I’ve never been attached to anyone but Lincoln since I was a toddler. But something’s pulling me to her.

So why am I so scared?

I take another sip from my favorite coffee mug and squint into it, surprised that it's empty.

I did fill it, right?

I lick my lips, definitely tasting whisky.

I jump in surprise when the lock clicks, and Lincoln walks through the door. I almost drop my cup, but catch it between my knees. I smirk at my Spider-Man-like reflexes.

I watch Link toe off his shoes and hang his coat by the door. I think he looks tired, but it’s hard to tell in the dim light of the living room.

He stops, taking in my appearance with narrowed eyes. “Fucking hell,” he mutters when he notices the empty beers and the bottle of whisky. “It’s early, Trey,” he says, his voice disapproving.

Staying clean hasn’t been easy over the years.
