We haven’t been able to track down Matt because the hockey team has been out of town for two away games in a row. It’s been making the guys crazy, but since we can’t actually prove the blackmail was him, there’s not much we can do other than be more vigilant about how openly affectionate we are, which Trey is terrible at doing. The guyhasto be touching one of us at all times.

Lincoln and Trey will be in Brighton for the break too, so I’m hoping to spend a couple nights with them. Hopefully, I can get a few meaningful conversations out of Link to see where we stand.

As far as Trey is concerned, I’ve come to the unfortunate conclusion that I’m falling for him pretty hard. I say unfortunate because I know this isn’t his MO, and eventually he’ll get bored with me and move on.

Nothing gold can stay,I think, and then realize I’ve probably been studying too hard if I’m quoting Robert Frost in my everyday life.

Regardless of what we may or may not be, Trey and Link have become my friends (with benefits), and I have a hard time imagining my life without them.

We’re gathered on Link’s bed, sifting through Netflix movies on Trey’s fancy laptop. The boys are sitting with their backs to the headboard, and I’m lying diagonally with my head in Trey’s lap and my feet across Link’s legs.

We scroll pastTitanic, and Trey side-eyes me with a smirk.

I flush and shake my head. “I promise I won’t make you guys watch anything romantic.”

“Romance is okay sometimes,” Link says with a shrug.

“Oh yeah?” I say with raised brows.

“Depends on your definition of romantic, I guess,” Link clarifies. “Give me your ideal romance movie.”

I shrug. “I don’t know.” I feel self-conscious under their curious gazes.

“Okay, okay, try this then,” Trey interrupts. “Most romantic movie line of all time?”

I smile. “That’s easy.The Empire Strikes Back.”

The guys stare at me in silence.

“Hold up,” Trey says finally, his warm eyes twinkling with mirth. “Your favorite romantic line is Leia’s ‘I love you’ to Han’s ‘I know’?”

“Yes?” I don’t know why it comes out as a question. “C’mon, it’s Harrison Ford after you’ve been watching him for two movies with his flirty half smirk and those tight pants…”

“He’s old enough to be your grandfather,” Trey deadpans.

“Notwhen I watchStar Wars. Han’s character is forever in his twenties, and let’s face it, he and Leia have a feisty enemies-to-lovers vibe. Their banter is top-notch.”

“Wow,” Link says, chuckling. “This is not a conversation I thought we’d ever have with a girl. The Empire Strikes Backthrough a romance lens? Unreal.”

“Were you expecting something fromThe Notebook?” I ask with a raised brow.

“C’mon, Sunshine. There’s a ton of stereotypical romance quotes that girls swoon over,” Link says with a shrug.

“Such as…?” I challenge.

And like movie nerds they are, the assholes start spouting off movie lines shamelessly, each of them mimicking the respective character voices.

Trey: “‘You complete me.’”

Link: “‘You’ve bewitched me, body and soul.’”

Trey: “‘The greatest thing you’ll ever learn is just to love, and be loved in return.’”

Link: “‘I would rather share one lifetime with you than face all the ages of this world alone.’”

“‘I wish I knew how to quit you,’” Trey finishes with a grin.

“Brokeback Mountain. Good one,” Link snarks, and they grin at each other knowingly.
