“I’m decorating my tree.”

“Nice. Sounds fun.” He nodded, turned around, and opened the door, sliding the plate of fudge on a table in his foyer. In an instant, his coat was in his hands. “I think that sounds like the perfect afternoon.”

“Yeah. Me too.”

He shut the door and locked it.

My brows raised. “Where are you going?”

Hunter laughed and took a deep breath. “To help you decorate.”

“Don’t you need an invite for that?”

“You did invite me.” He smiled, sending a tingly current clear to my toes.

“No, I didn’t.”

“You don’t have to be rude about it.” His smile widened. “But you did.”

“I’d remember if I invited you, and I did not.”

“That’s not what I remember.” He draped his arm over my shoulders.

“Fine. You clearly need some form of entertainment today, and I’ll gladly oblige if this wipes the slate clean.”

“What slate?”

I laughed, shaking my head. “You’re driving me crazy.”

“Crazy good or crazy bad?”

I shook my head. “I don’t know.”

But I liked it and would never admit that to him or anyone else on this planet.

“I’m only giving you a hard time.”

I laughed, shoving my hands into my coat. “You really didn’t have to explain that part to me. I got it. Loud and clear.”

“In all seriousness, I’m super handy. I can wrap lights around a tree like nobody else, and I can reach the top of eighty percent of Christmas trees to put the star on top.”

“I have an angel.”

“Yes, you are.”

“Yes, I am what?”

“An angel.”

I stomped my foot. “What the heck is going on with you? Did you pour too much Baileys in your coffee? Add too much Schnapps to your eggnog?”

“It’s noon.”

“You’re telling me you never tipple a little before the afternoon.”

He grinned. “I own a bar. I don’t think that would be a great idea. In fact, I think it might be a sign that I need help.”

I chuckled, feeling the familiar tingle pepper through me. “Okay, fine. Let’s just get going.”
