“… Sailor take warning,” Jared finished, looking off in the distance. “I’m glad we are pulling into port. I could use a shower, a decent steak…”

“Now you’re talking!” Shepherd interjected, slapping Jared on the back.

“… And a good, cold beer.”

“We’re scheduled for port,” Bo acknowledge. “The pier is ready and waiting – along with the order for supplies.”

“Y’all are amazing – and I’m so glad to have you in my life.”

“Does this mean you aren’t leaving us?” Bo began openly, and he saw their curious looks, realizing that they had been concerned.

“Nothing is going to change, except that I might duck out of a cruise in the future if I have something to attend to –or Calista might join us. We’ll probably be using this port a lot more than any others, as well.”

“I’m good with that.”

“Me too.”

“Maybe we can look at getting an apartment?” Marie began, looking at Jared.

“Oh yeah?” the man smiled. “I’d like that – a lot.”

“I’m still wearing my hook,” Shepherd announced, causing all of them to laugh in a relaxed manner. “… And I still think Bo should get that peg leg.”

“What?! Nawww man…”

“Oh yeah. Chicks love a peg leg…”

“No, they don’t.”

“Shhh. He almost took the bait.”

“A peg leg would be quite debonaire, and add to the aura…”

“I’m not wearing a peg leg – period.”

“But it would make this hollow, cool sound across the deck. I mean, you could even scrape it along and moan, ‘Dead men tell no tales’…”

“Uh, HR lady?” Bo waived in annoyance. “You gonna reprimand someone for making fun of a disabled man?”

“Ooooh! How about for a Halloween cruise?” Marie clapped her hands giddily, causing Bo to groan in understanding that no one was going to address the teasing – including her. All of them laughed easily, hugging the younger man and patting him on the back.

“We could make jack-o’-lanterns, have candy, tell ghost stories, and fly a black pirate flag! Shepherd, you could dress as Captain Hook! I could be a pirate wench…”

“How’s that any different from any other day?”

“… And Jared could dress like a cold fish,” Marie said flatly, taunting him.

“I’ll show you a cold fish,” Jared growled, scooping her up and tossing her over his shoulder bodily, before swatting her on the backside. “Is the coffee ready, Bo?”

“Yup.”

“God love ya’, Bo,” Marie laughingly called out from her ill-placed perch on Jared’s shoulder as he carried her off towards the galley affectionately. All this time, Will just thought they were the best of friends… but having such a relationship with Calista? He realized that there was a true treasure in having a bond like that.

Best friends, lovers, and more.

“Get some coffee before the rest of the crew gets up,” Shepherd urged knowingly, smiling at him. “And get some for your bride while it’s fresh. You know young Prowert’s coffee is enough to pull paint off a car, if you leave it sitting long enough.”

“True,” Will chuckled, walking off.
