She made a face. “No. Should I have?”

“Baby. Do you know what they call James, Adam, Forest and I?”

“Um… Campus royalty?”

I chuckled. “Yeah. It’s not because they’re on sports teams, or popular. It’s all because of who our parents are. My trust fund is… more money than I’d ever know what to do with.” Running my fingers through her hair to center myself, I focused on the woman in front of me. The woman I loved. “What he said is true. If you stay with me… You’d never have to work a day in your life. And if you wanted it, you could do exactly what my mom did.”

She scrunched up a nose. “So… be a trophy wife?”

“More or less. But I know that’s not you. That’s not what you want.”

“No.” Ella shook her head.

“And that’s not what you’re going to do, because you’resofucking talented, baby. The world deserves to see your designs. And I’m going to sit back and watch you shine. Wherever you go, I will be right there beside you.”

“But…” she gnawed on her bottom lip. “If your parents don’t approve…”

“They can get over it.” I leaned in and planted a sweet kiss on her forehead, making her giggle. “I don’t care. I’m choosing you. Us.”

“But can’t they take away your trust fund?”

“No. It’s not conditional. That’s not how my grandparents set it up. Sure, they could cut me out oftheirwills, but I don’t need their money. It doesn’t matter, because either way, they won’t do that.”

“How do you know?” She made a face. “Your dad…”

I wrapped my arm around her waist, bringing her body flush against mine. “Because my mom won’t stay away from her daughter-in-law.” I grinned.

“Cameron.” Her cheeks blushed. “We’re?—”

“I’m not proposing. Not now.” She deserved so much better than that. “But one day, I’m going to get down on one knee and ask you to be my wife. Okay, Princess? And if you want to move to New York City so you can design for a Broadway productionafter graduation, that’s what we’ll do.”

“But what about law school?”

“Who said there wasn’t a law school in New York?”

“Oh,” she mumbled. “I guess I hadn’t thought of that. That you’d be willing to go with me.”

“I’ll go wherever you are, baby. Now, anything else?” I asked, rubbing my hand down her back. “Any other objections we need to get out of our systems? Because I’m not running away, and I need to know if I need to reassure you about anything else.”

She shook her head.

“No running?”

“No running,” she confirmed. “Cameron, I…”

I placed a finger over her lips. “Not now. If you’re going to say what I think you’re going to say… Not here. Please.” Because Ineededto say it first. Because I’d been waiting, and Ididn’t want it to be tainted by my dad’s negativity. I couldn’t help the smile that split over my face. “I want to say it first.”

“You really are my Prince Charming.”

“Of course I am, baby. That’s why you’remyPrincess.”

“Take me home?” Her voice was breathless.

I gestured to the car. “Your carriage awaits, my lady.”
