But Cam was different. Special. I knew he’d take care of me, that he’d make sure I was comfortable even as he used me however he wanted.

And yet… My eyes stung. This was about you. That was our deal, remember?

I’d also basically begged him to fuck me, and even if he’d made me come on his tongue, he hadn't given me any more of him.

Shit. What was Idoing? How was I letting myself get so caught up in a guy?

“I’m an idiot,” I said with a groan, shoving my hands over my eyes as I collapsed back into my pillow.

It would be fine. He’d taken what he wanted from me, so now… all of it would be over, anyway, wouldn't it?

The fighting, the… flirting. The spending time together.

I should have felt relieved. Maybe this way I wouldn’t feel like I was going to internally combust every time his thigh pressed against mine.

But I wasn’t. The truth was, I didn’t want to stop seeing him. Didn’t want the semester to end, and Cam and I to stop being… what were we, anyway?

Friends? Or was it something more?

My mind kept drifting back to that first night, the way he’d looked at me,touchedme. The way his eyes hadn’t been able tostay off of me, even when we were just talking about mundane topics.

You want him,my body whispered to me. Or maybe that was my head? I didn’t think it was my heart, but maybe she was a fickle beast, too.

I wanted.

Damn him.

That dream was still on my mind later when I went to get dinner, and saw him sitting alone with a plate of food in front of him. Quickly making up my mind, I changed directions, heading straight for him.

I slid in to the booth in front of Cameron as he raised an eyebrow. “I didn’t know we were meeting tonight.”

“We weren’t. But I saw you sitting alone, and I thought I’d join you.” I placed my tray down, finally taking a moment to look up at him.

At those eyes that had looked up at me in my dreams. I shivered, a full body movement that I was hoping I could blame on the fact that I wasn’t wearing a jacket, even though it was plenty warm inside the commons.

He was smiling. “Hi, Princess. Did you miss me?”

“No,” I denied, taking a bite of my food instead of answering truthfully.

“I think you did. I think that’s why you sought me out.”

Why had I thought this was a good idea? “I can leave,” I muttered, getting ready to stand up.

His hand slid over mine, holding onto my wrist. “No. Don’t go.”

The way he was holding on felt like he was holding onto me likea lifeline.

I nodded. “Okay.”

We ate in silence for a moment before the sound of sneakers squeaking on the tile floor caught my attention, and I looked up to find three men—threetall, athletically builtmen—standing in front of us.

“Did you get started without us?” One of them asked. He had dark hair, bright blue eyes, wide shoulders, and a cocky grin on his face.

The lankier one—a brunette wearing a CU Baseball shirt—looked over at me. “Oh. Shit. You’ve got company.” Though he looked familiar, I couldn’t quite place him.

“Um. Hi.” I did my best not to gape at all of them staring down at me.

“Yes.” Cameron glared at the rest of them. “Go away.”
