He just kissed the side of my head, ignoring my question. What did he see that I didn’t?

“I’m just glad you stopped fighting with me. Fighting this.” He pulled me in tighter.

“Cam.”We hadn’t even defined what this was yet, or put any labels on what we were doing together. Sure, we’d spent last semester flirting and fighting, but… Were wedatingnow?

“Come on.” He tugged on my hand before sticking it back in his pocket. “Let’s leave those two love-birds to work their shit out.”

“Should we go back?” I asked, taking in the snow as it came down harder, the temperature dropping. Cam wasn’t even wearing a hat.

“A little longer,” he said, squeezing my hand. “I want to savor this.”

“Okay,” I said back, a whisper on the breeze, butterflies tumbling in my stomach.

We kept walking for a while until we came upon a frozen lake, the bench at its banks mostly clear of snow. Cameron plopped down first, and then patted his lap.

“Ah…” I placed my hands over my cheeks, aware of my body’s natural response to him.

“Come here, Princess.” His hands wrapped around my waist, and he tugged me down, settling me on top of him.

“Hi,” I whispered as he brushed a loose hair back behind my ear, his finger brushing under my beanie.

“Hi.” He kissed my forehead.

“What are we doing?” I asked, because while this place was pretty, it was getting colder outside, the snow falling down harder.

“I don’t want to go back yet. To share you with anyone.” He brushed his nose against mine.

“You don’t have to hold me like some sort of possessive boyfriend,” I whispered to him a few minutes later when he hadn’t moved from his current spot. He rubbed his thumb over the back of my hand, the motion somehow simultaneously soothing me and lighting me on fire.

“But what if I want to?”

“Hm?” I looked up at him, and his eyes were dark.

“What if Iwantto act like a possessive boyfriend?”

I swallowed roughly.

The thought lingered in my head, desire burning hot inside of me. It was a sensation that didn’t fade, even when we got back to the house, cold and damp, to the smell of cooking food.

I hadn’t been kidding when I’d said I was excited for the hot tub. Even if the walk to the steaming water was cold, given it was twenty-something degrees up here on the mountain. Thank goodness the patio was covered, otherwise everything out here would be covered in the same dusting of snow as the winter wonderland that surrounded us.

After dinner—Adam had made a French dish that practically melted in your mouth, and Sutton’s chocolate lava cakes were to die for—I’d told Audrey I wanted to relax before sneaking outside. I needed a moment to shut my brain off—necessary, for an introvert stuck in a house full of extroverts and athletes.

Shedding the plush robe I’d worn out here onto a chair, I dipped my toes into the warm water, a small moan escaping from my lips as I slid my body in. Heaven.

Leaning my head back, I rested my head on the cold stone edge, staring up at the stars. They were so much brighter here, nestled against the mountains, and I couldn’t help but close my eyes, humming a familiar tune.

“Enjoying yourself, Princess?” came the voice I couldn’t get out of my head, and I cracked my eyes open, seeing Cam sitting on the edge next to me, wearing swim trunks and a sweatshirt.

“Ohmygod.” My hand flew to my heart. “You scared me.”

Maybe I should have been more aware of my small bikini top, the way it revealed everything. My hardened nipples showed through the thin fabric, and I knew his gaze had honed in on it.

The difference in temperatures outside was doing something to my brain. That was the most logical conclusion.

He smirked, whipping the sweatshirt off and revealing the muscled chest I hadn’t gotten to see enough.

Cam was right—it was a shame that we’d only been in a bed once. I wanted to trace those abs with my tongue, to memorizethe map of his body with my hands, feel his weight on top of me. Because I couldn’t get enough.
