I want so badly to feast on her lips for eternity, live off it with no need to worry about anything else to sustain me.

While I hold her to me, something in the back of my mind buzzes. Sensors try to spark in my memory bank but fail to actually connect. Like the first time I touched her when I picked Ridge up the other night with her, we have a familiarity.

There has to be, or I’m just crazy, which very well could be true.

I can’t figure it out, though. There’s no way I could have been with her before. I may be an asshole, but I’ve never forgotten a single woman I was with. There’s just no possible way I’ve already had her. Last weekend aside.

I almost forget where we are for an instant and some of my family wouldn’t be far away.

“And this is my math class.” Ridge, who obviously hasn’t seen me kissing his teacher yet, tells his parents as their footsteps carry into the room.

“Oh my God.” Angie panics but quickly shoves away from me to straighten herself out. She doesn’t need to fix anything; she looks perfect to me. The lack of any response from my brother and sister-in-law are all I need to know they saw us.

“Hello, Ms. Reece.” Ridge comes bounding over to us. Angie quickly takes a couple of steps back from me to give us space and turns her focus on my family.

Thank God he didn’t see anything.

He knows I have a thing for her, but I don’t want him thinking this will mean he’s finally getting an aunt from his dad’s side of the family.

No, far too early for that.

I need to learn how to be in a dating relationship before I can think about the future.

“Hi, Ridge. I was wondering when I would get to see you.” Angie beams down at him. Her whole face transforms and lights up when she directs her attention to him.

I want her to look at me like that.

Whoa, slow down, Chase.

I admire the kindness she gives my nephew and how warm and open she is to his parents. I can’t help but adore how sweet she is to everyone. I haven’t seen her around many people yet, but if Ridge adores her, then she must be kind to everyone she meets.

I feel like a real asswipe for ditching her the other night. Someone this sweet needs to be treated just as kindly. I’m also frustrated because it’s apparent she knows me, but I can’t recall her.

I step out of the way while she talks to my brother and sister-in-law about Ridge and how animated he is while talking about the progress he’s already making.

I don’t want to leave when Valerie informs me it’s time to head home, but since I came in with them, I don’t have much choice.

“I’ll talk to you later.” It’s a promise, one I’ll keep when I run the pad of my thumb over her plump bottom lip and convey it in my gaze locked on hers.

“O-Okay.” It takes her a moment to smile, and when she does, it steals my breath from my lungs.

“Okay.” Grinning, I peck her on the lips and then leave her to trail my family.

Will manages to keep his trap shut until we’re almost to the truck. “You’re going to fail,” he sings.

“I’m not going to.” I’m committed to this and to Angie.

“You will.” He grins. “Ow!”

“Shut it, William.” Valerie rubs her hand from smacking her husband on the back of the head. “If Chase is set on this, then we’ll support him as a family.”

“Thanks, sis.” I could kiss the woman, but she won’t allow that.

“Oh, shut up and get in the truck.”
