“God, I don’t know what you do to me, but you have me under your spell, there’s no doubt about that,” I breathed. “My little vixen.”

Cassie smiled as she looked into my eyes. “You are my everything, I hope you know that.”

“You are everything I didn’t know I was looking for, and now that I’ve found you, I’m never letting go,” I told her.

“You promise?” she asked me.

In response, I leaned forward and pressed my lips to hers, kissing her deeply. There was nothing but love behind the kiss, and I didn’t stop until we both had to come up for air.

“I promise,” I told her. “I’m in this for the long haul, and nothing is going to change my mind.”

Cassie held up her hand, her pinky extended. “Pinky promise.”

Looping my finger through hers, I did.

“Cross my heart and hope to die,” I told her. Cassie smiled, leaning up on the bed to kiss me once again.

“Cross my heart forever,” she said.

With that, I pulled out of her, and together, we lay on the bed in each other’s arms. I hadn’t planned on making love right after her arrival, but I was okay with the fact it had happened. We had the whole night to spend together, and I was perfectly okay with the start of everything.

“Are you ready to go downstairs?” I asked her. “Dinner’s waiting, and I think we have some important things to talk about.”

She smiled.

“I’m ready for anything with you, babe,” she told me. “And I do mean anything.”

She fixed her dress and I pulled my pants back on, then we headed downstairs together. But I knew we would be naked and in bed again before too long. I just couldn’t help myself around Cassie.

And now, I knew without a doubt she was in this for the long run.

And so was I.

Epilogue – Six Months Later

Cassie

Iclapped along with the rest of my sisters as the waiter brought out dessert. It didn’t come as any real surprise to me that Alex had gone all out for it. It was one of my favorites. An ice cream that came decorated with oranges that were set aflame right at the table.

It was mostly the show that I liked, though I did love the taste of oranges and chocolate together.

It was a celebratory dinner Alex and I had decided to have with my sisters and his best friend, David after we officially opened the doors to my new daycare center.

While life with Alex had been wonderful, it had still taken me some time before I was ready to allow him to be my investor.I didn’t want him to rescue me, and I didn’t want business to complicate the relationship we had with each other.

But, in the end, he won out.

“Come on,” he said. “You know things aren’t going as well as they could be with my new sponsorships, and with how I have been dealing with my own investors, I’m ready for a change of pace. There are always going to be parents out there who are looking for childcare, and with what you’re doing, I see this being a real strong investment.”

“But I don’t want it to change you and me,” I argued.

“The only thing this is going to change for us is to lessen the stress you feel over your business,” he argued.

And, as it turned out, he was right.

The money he gave me allowed me to take the risk I’d wanted to take, and we opened up an official daycare center downtown. It was a place where Teresa and Angela were both able to punch a time clock, and I was able to hire other help that had come on to relieve them both when they wanted more time to themselves.

At the same time, I didn’t have to be at the center beyond what I wanted to be, either. I was free to oversee as I pleased and spend the rest of my time with Lucy. She didn’t have to attend unless it just so happened to be a day when I would be working myself, and she was welcome to come with me when I did.
