He rose to his feet when I stepped over to him, and he took me in his arms, holding me close as we kissed. I heard the cheeringat the table behind me, and I was elated both my sisters had been present to see the proposal.

Alex removed the ring from the box and slipped it onto my finger, a perfect fit. It matched the bracelet Lucy had given me, and the sight of both made a lump form in my throat. I couldn’t believe I had gotten so lucky in my life. I couldn’t believe that this was my life now.

“Will you be my best man?” Alex asked David as we both returned to our seats.

“Absolutely,” he said.

“And will you be my maid of honor?” I asked Angela. I knew Teresa would understand, as Angela and I were close.

“Of course, I will be!” Angela squealed. “Oh my God, we have so much planning to do!”

“And I want you to be one of my bridesmaids, too,” I told Teresa. “Please?”

“Of course,” she said. “That’s obvious, right?”

“What am I going to do?” Lucy asked.

“You’re going to be the flower girl,” I told her. “I wouldn’t have it any other way.”

She grinned from ear to ear, and I reached for Alex’s hand. I had long since made my decision about being with him, but the ring on my finger made that decision even more real than it had been. At least it felt more real.

I felt the baby kicking in my belly, and I put my free hand over the place where I felt the flutters.

“Someone else is excited about this, too,” I said. “We might need to have another little flower fairy added to the mix.”

“I don’t think that’s going to be a problem,” Alex said with a grin. “The more the merrier, that’s what I say!”

“Here here!” David laughed, and I was certain once again I saw a look pass between him and my sister.

But I was so caught up in the moment I could forget about what they were doing for a little while, anyway. Teresa was right; I now had a wedding to plan for, and that was going to take a lot of my time.

I lifted my water to my lips and took a drink, enjoying the wave of happiness that ran through me.

I felt like I was dreaming, but I was smiling so big it almost hurt my face.

All I knew was I had never been so happy in my entire life, and if it was a dream, I never wanted to wake up. My life had become all I had ever wished for. No, it had become even more than I’d ever wished for.

And I couldn’t wait to start the next chapter with Alex.

THE END
