“Wear that yellow bikini,” he commands while his dark blue eyes turn molten. “But put something warm over it. It’ll be cold over there.”

“You act like I’ve never been here before,” I say, backing away from him. “I’ve been coming to the mountains for years now. I know how to dress. And the only bathing suit I brought was that yellow bikini, so I have to wear it.”

He starts to follow me into the bedroom.

“Nope,” I say, throwing an arm out until his chest hits my palm. “If you come into this bedroom while I’m putting on that bikini, we’ll never make it out of the house.”

“Maybe we should stay in instead,” he murmurs in that low, sexy voice that is quickly becoming addictive.

“Tempting,” I agree, “but now, I want to go paddleboarding. We can do …thatlater.” I smile coyly.

“Multiple times,” he adds seductively.

He won’t hear me disagree.

I close the door and lock it behind me, laughing when he pounds on it a few times. It sounds like he’s banging his head against the wood. I quickly change, pulling a pair of leggings and a hoodie on over my swimsuit. I pack a few other clean clothes just in case I fall into the lake. I know the water there is frigid, so I really hope I don’t lose my balance.

Zane is waiting right outside the door. I take a second to admire him. His grin is boyish, but it’s the only boyish thing about him. There’s a layer of scruff across his jawline since he’s neglected his razor lately. He’s been spending most of his time here at my place. Zane is ruggedly handsome, lean, and muscular—from activity and not the gym. He’s the type of hot that turns heads when he walks into any room.

“Ready?” he asks, removing my backpack from my hands.

I nod and follow him outside after a brief pause for him to put on his shoes and socks and gather his things. His SUV is sitting next to mine in the driveway.

“I need to stop by my house to grab the boards and change,” he says as he gets situated in the driver’s seat.

I smirk. “You mean, I get to see the secret bat cave?”

I haven’t been to Zane’s place yet. We’ve spent all our time together at my rented cabin.

“I was starting to think you didn’t want me to see it. Be honest … is it a shack?” I joke.

Benji told me about Zane’s background and the type of money his family has. I know he doesn’t live in a hovel.

“Or do you have a harem of women there, at your beck and call, just waiting for you to snap your fingers?”

“You caught me,” he deadpans. “I have a harem of women. But I called ahead and told them to disappear for a few hours so I can keep you in the dark and have you all to myself.”

“That’s a good thing,” I say dryly, “because I’m not good at sharing.”

He glances over at me, his eyes full of heat. “Neither am I.”

It takes around twenty minutes to drive across town with the traffic and tourists cluttering the streets. I’m taking it all in when we pull onto a side street at the base of the mountain chain. I cansee the ski lodge towering to our right, along with the lifts and stretches of land where the pine trees have been cleared along the runs.

“You live right by the slopes, huh?” I ask.

“Yep.”

“I should’ve guessed.”

The houses here are nice. Really nice. Most of them are built along the hillside and surrounded by pine and aspen trees, which give the semblance of privacy. I can only imagine how much they cost, especially this close to the slopes.

We drive up the street at a steady climb. A few minutes later, a garage door opens as Zane steers the SUV along a driveway and into the garage.

“I bet it’s hard to keep the driveway clear during the winter,” I observe.

“It’s heated,” Zane says flippantly.

My eyes widen. “I didn’t realize there was such a thing.”
