Her mask isn’t back. There’s no more fake smile across her face. Instead, what resembles a sneer is in its place. My fingers move swiftly across the screen of my phone as I text Sebastian. He won't have any problems entering since I forgot to lock the door behind us. “What. Did. You. Do?” Her words are clipped, with a pause between each one. Her eyes look less bright, and she is struggling to sit upright.

“What did I miss?” Sebastian asks as he enters the kitchen. Her eyes dart to him and she hisses.

“Not much. But whatever was in that bag has made her furious.”

“Oh no, my sweet. That isn’t the drug, that’s the real her. The drug just fades away the exterior she puts on for everyone. Let’s get her up. Bathroom or her bedroom?”

I think about which will mean less mess for when I will probably have to come back and deal with this, as the grieving daughter. “Bathtub if we can.” He nods, lowering his sleeves. He puts on gloves that he retrieves from his pockets. Without hesitation, he takes her to the bathroom.

I clean up the plates from dinner, then wash and rinse her glass. As I walk into the bathroom, she is sitting upright in the bathtub, fully clothed. She stares at me but she doesn’t say anything.

“It’s up to you. You can say your piece and leave, or you can do the honours.” Sebastian holds up the blade. I look into his eyes. There is no judgement in them. He honestly would do whatever I wanted. I reach for the blade.

Grasping one of her forearms, I drag the sharp edge from her wrist to her elbow. Letting it drop before her toxic blood cantouch me, I follow up with the other. The blood runs out of each wound faster than I would have thought. I’m mesmerized by it, by the way her breathing slows. Her eyes stare at me and I feel alive. For the first time in over twenty years, the darkness pulls back fully from my eyes, my mind is quiet, and the worry is gone.

“Listen to me Mother. All I ever wanted was for you to love me. That is all. You love Michael and Ashley with such fierceness, I always wondered why not me. Why couldn’t you love me? What have I ever done to you? Since I was a child you’ve treated me differently, for my entire life I’ve had to live under your shadow, be the good one. Don’t rock the boat, don’t cause a scene.” She stares at me, withholding the words I ache to hear even as she stands upon death’s door.

“You’re just as useless as I always knew you were,” her voice is barely a whisper.

“We’ll never know why you treated me that way, but the world is a better place without you in it. I’ve had to fight for so long, you never even gave me a chance. You proved over and over that I wasn’t worthy of love. I gave you every effort. I tried so hard, and for what? Someone to beat me down further. Why wasn’t I good enough for you to love?” The tears wet my face before I realize I’m crying. The release from ending her life is far superior to marking myself.

“Give me the blade. It’s okay. You did so well,” Sebastian says quietly.

I watch as he wipes my prints off of the handle and puts it in her hand, it falls to the porcelain tub that is covered in crimson swirls, some of it has gone down the drain, leaving a metallic smell in the air. I exit the room, my footsteps echoing through the hallway.

Retrieving the letter, I examine it for a date, but find none. I set it down gently on the bench among the neatly stacked towels. “Do you think we should check her phone?” I ask him.

He looks at me and nods. I grab it from the table to check her messages, but nothing has been sent since last week when she told everyone if I didn’t get my shit together, I was going to give her a heart attack. I roll my eyes and wipe my prints off her phone, laying it in her bedroom.

“You are handling this pretty well. Are you sure you're okay?” He looks at me. I think it over for a minute, purse my lips and nod.

“Do you need anything?” He looks over the scene and back at me.

“Two things.”

“Whatever you want, your wish is my command.”

“They both sound fucking crazy.” I bite my lip, thinking my thoughts over in my head.

He laughs lightly. “Your wish is my command,” he repeats himself.

“Well, I want to fuck. I can’t explain why, but I just do. And then I want to show you the memories of the house.” He nods, stalking towards me.

Dropping the gloves on the floor, he lowers his lips to mine. The kiss is hard, and I match his energy, our lips battling each other like we’re trying to become one. He turns me to face the sink, my hands on the counter as he rips down my pants, tearing my panties off swiftly. But he is slower to slide into me. Every inch slides in slowly. The wall blocks the bathtub, but I know she’s on the other side and I couldn’t think of a better fuck you than this. With that thought, a moan escapes my mouth and I look up into the mirror, watching Sebastian’s face focused on where we are joined.

“Fuck, you are so fucking perfect,” he grits out as he begins to pound into me. I lean my head down to take the thrusts and grip the edge of the sink as I fall over the edge, clenching down on his cock as I come.

Ipull her ponytail, forcing her head up to watch in the mirror. I want to look into her hazel eyes when I come inside her. One hand grips her hip as I wrap my hand around her hair. “Fuck. Come for me again. Drench my cock. I’m so fucking close.” Iwatch her face contort in ecstasy as she comes again. As she clenches down tightly on me, everything is too much, and I slam into her harder and fill her.

“So, fucking perfect. I love you.” The words escape my lips before I can think about what I’ve said, the lack of blood in my head.

“I love you too,” she utters the words I’ve always wanted to hear from her perfect mouth. But I take them with a grain of salt. It’s an eventful night and I don’t want to believe she loves me unless it’s true. After we’re situated, I look down at her beautiful face. “What’s next, the memories?”

She bites her lip, glancing around. “I don’t know how this will work. I didn’t think about the note.” Her eyebrows knit together, and worry crosses her face.
