Reaching over, I pulled her into a hug, rubbing my arm up and down her back in a gentle gesture. “I’m sorry, Onasis. We all loved her, both of you. You’re like our little sister, just like Hera was; I would do anything to go back to that night and save her. We all would go back and exchange our life for hers. We spent countless days analyzing everything about that night, trying to see what went wrong, but in the end, none of us were close enough to stop the attack. All we could do was watch in horror, too slow to stop the demon. We hunted him down though, and got vengeance for your sister. If anything will help you sleep at night, let it be that. We killed the creature that took her from our lives.”

Pulling away with tears rimming her eyes, she fiddled with the hem of her shirt. “I know Phoenix. Thank you. You better see what’s taking them so long. Diana was pretty beat up yesterday, but he won't give her a pass. Not when he wants to take her out into the field in a few days.”

“He wants to do what?” I practically screamed at her as she flinched.

“I really don’t know why he doesn't tell you his plans. He wants to see if she has the incorporeal gift. If he can’t get her to show us here, then he’s planning on taking her out, wondering if it’s terror-induced.” She winced at the last statement.

My blood boiled. Was he out of his fucking mind? There’s no way she’s ready for that.

I turned and strode up the stairs, afraid to say anything that was currently running through my mind for fear it would just piss her off. She would run and tell him, and then we would be at each other's throats all day. Best to save the fight for when it actually comes.

Coming up in front of Eros’s door, I pounded hard, waiting for him to answer. When I didn’t hear anything, I went on to the next one.

My anger increased while I waited in front of Atlas’s door.

What the fuck?

Where the hell were these guys?

Turning, I stepped up to Diana’s door. My knocking was softer as I reeled in my anger. Once again, when there was no answer, I turned the knob and pushed it open a crack, just enough to see the full tray of untouched food on her dresser.

“Diana, are you awake?” I asked with a softness even I didn't know I was capable of. When there was still no answer, I opened the door more to peek at her bed. I was shocked to see the sleeping girl with both my best friends on either side of her.

What the actual fuck?

Were they both with her last night?

Anger filled my veins, and a fire lit inside me. I stormed into the room to flip the blankets off of them. As soon as I did, the fire turned into an inferno at seeing all three of them naked.

Diana woke with a shriek, “What the fuck, Phoenix? What the hell are you doing in here?” She tried to cover her breasts, but I already caught sight of the rings pierced through them. My gaze raked up and down her body, taking note of the deep black and blue marks blotching her skin as Atlas and Eros stirred beside her, finally waking up.

“What the fuck, man? Ever heard of knocking?” Atlas mumbled in a sleepy tone while yawning.

“I was looking for you three, and I did knock on everyone’s damn door. I wasn’t expecting to find them in your bed.” I seethed. I wanted to knock them out, but not for the fact that they were with her, but because I was jealous. I wanted that to be me comforting her. The marks on her skin

caused my stomach to clench. I didn't realize how hard I was hitting her. The discolorations stood out against her creamy flesh.

My anger vanished as I looked at a particularly nasty-looking bruise on the side of her head before meeting her eyes. “Diana…” I started before she abruptly cut me off.

“Don’t! It’s not as bad as it looks.”

“It looks pretty bad, m’eudail.” I reached out to run my hand across her hip as the men in her bed just gawked at me, my eyes never leaving hers.

“What does that mean?” Diana asked wide-eyed at my name for her.

Was that confusion in her gaze?

Surely I haven’t been that much of an ass that she put me out of the running for her affection. I was only doing what I was ordered. I pulled my hand back slowly as I turned to leave.

“Apollo is waiting for you.” I hollered over my shoulder before striding out of the room, closing the door behind me.

Walking into the weapons room, I could feel the tension in the air. Well, today was going to be fun. Minutes after I entered, the three musketeers came in behind me.

“Phoenix, can we talk?” Diana came up and tugged on my arm, stopping me as she stepped in front of me, blocking my path.

I saw the hurt and confusion on her face, the same thing I felt inside. “There’s nothing to talk about. Clearly, you want them, so I will stay out of your way,” I said coldly. Her mouth dropped open as the hurt in her eyes turned to anger.

“You listen here, Phoenix Zephyer, and listen good!” Pointing a finger into my chest, she continued, “Just because they were with me last night does not mean you get to be a cold bastard. If you wanted me, then you should of fucking spoke up like they did! Don’t throw a pity party because you didn't even seem remotely interested in me till this morning!”
