With that thought in mind and Dani preparing to throw, I morph from the girl out here to have fun into a borderline psychopath.

As the bouquet flies through the air, my eyes stay on it. I shift position, moving closer, pushing, and then jump, wrapping both hands around it and pulling it against me, somehow landing on my feet. Probably because I switched to flats for the reception.

When the dust settles, many of the women make their way off the dance floor, but Amanda, Chelsea, and Olivia are all staring at me, both amused and surprised, as Dani haughtily struts over to me. “Guess it’s a little more than maybe.”

My cheeks heat as my sanity returns, then I look around, finally finding Miles standing across the room, smiling and doing that sexy smolder thing. His eyes lock on mine. Nothing to do now but own this.

I make my way across the room to him, coming to a stop about a foot away from him.

“Caught the bouquet,” he says smoothly, like he didn’t watch me leap through the air to capture this thing and clutch to my chest like Gollum with the ring.

“Yep.” We stare at each other for a moment, fire sparking between us. He opens his mouth, but before he can say anything, I lean in and whisper, “I guess you better catch the garter.”

Miles

I guess you better catch the garter.

Is it the wedding? All the love surrounding us? Or is she ready for this? Is she telling me she’s ready for this?

A bunch of guys crowd the dance floor, but fuck them. No one else is getting close to Amelia’s thighs and leaving with the bones of their hands intact. Nope. I’m catching this thing.

“Fight you for it,” Trev says with a cocky smile.

“Not like Chelsea caught the bouquet.”

He leans in. “Nah, but I figure she can steal it while I nab the garter.”

My gaze shifts to him, and he laughs.

I turn slightly, arms folded. “I’m the tallest one here and I’m a catcher. If you think anyone else is getting close to this thing, you’re crazy.”

“Odds are in your favor,” Jamie says, coming to stand on my other side.

Damn straight they are.

I turn my attention back to where Jesse is standing, waiting for him to throw the damn thing. A few guys crowd into my space, and I have to remind myself not to growl.

Finally, he throws the damn thing, and I spring up, easily grabbing it while it’s still above everyone else’s heads.

A few guys groan. Meanwhile, I’m smiling like the arrogant asshole I am. I whip my head to look at Amelia, whose cheeks are pink, but she’s smiling from ear to ear while still clutching that bouquet.

As the dance floor clears out, Aaron drags a chair over from a nearby table and places it in the center of the dance floor. As Amelia walks over, Aaron leans in and whispers, “Maybe you have your answer.” Then he winks and walks off the floor.

Amelia sits down in the chair and everyone whistles and cheers as I kneel in front of her. I specifically hear my mother’s sharp whistle, which is a little weird, but I know she’s firmly on team Miles and Amelia Forever, so I can’t complain.

I look up at Amelia and her face blooms into a massive smile. Her cheeks are pink and her light green eyes are big as she watches me slowly slide her dress up one leg.

I graze my fingertips up her leg first, then go a little extra and kiss her thigh just above the knee. Everyone howls and cheers. Smiling as I lift my lips off her, I play the role of the prince and gently slip off her shoe and lift her leg before carefully sliding the garter up, up, up until my hands are covered by the fabric of her dress. Everyone claps, and I take the briefest moment to run my fingers over her panties before pulling my hands out of her dress.

Standing up, I extend my hand to her, then pull her into my arms for a hot kiss as the DJ invites everyone onto the floor for a round of slow songs.

Amelia looks up at me tenderly, pushing some hair away from my eyes.

“I love you,” she says, but her tone says more than her words, conveying the depth of her love. What she wants to do with that love.

I’m afraid to believe it. Like somehow, it’s all too good to be true. But I think she wants what I want. A future. Our future. And for it to start now.

“I love you too, sweetness.” Then I dip my head down and kiss her again, swaying to the gentle music of the song as I do.
