The investor nodded and continued walking around the ranch. I watched him closely, trying to gauge his reaction.

"Overall, I'm impressed with what I see," he said, finally stopping in front of me. "The ranch has a lot of potential."

A wave of relief washed over me. I had heard enough to know that he was willing to invest in me.

"I'm glad you think so," I said, trying to hide my excitement.

"I'd be happy to give you the loan," Clay said, extending his hand.

I shook his hand, nearly jumping for joy. I couldn't believe that it was finally happening.

"Thank you! Thank you so much!" I exclaimed.

"Just one thing," the investor said. "I'll have my accountant reach out and make sure that everything is in order."

"Of course," I said, eager to get the process started.

"I'll have him get in touch with you soon," he said.

"Great," I said, beaming.

Clay smiled and turned to leave. "Give my love to Casey." I watched him walk back to his car, my mind racing with all the possibilities that the loan would open up for me.

I couldn't wait to tell Brett and Casey the good news. I knew that this was just the beginning of a new chapter for my ranch.

My heart was pounding in my ears as I raced towards the rental house where Casey and Brett were staying. I had some incredible news to share, and I couldn't wait to see their reactions.

I burst through the front door, nearly knocking it off its hinges. "Casey! Brett! You won't believe what happened!" I exclaimed, my voice trembling with excitement.

Casey and Brett looked up from the kitchen table, their faces etched with surprise. "What is it, Christian?" Casey asked, her brow furrowed.

"I got the loan!" I blurted out, unable to contain my joy any longer.

Casey and Brett's eyes widened in disbelief. "No way!" Brett exclaimed, jumping to his feet.

"I can't believe it!" Casey gasped, her hand flying to her mouth.

We all erupted in a chorus of cheers and congratulations. I couldn't help but feel a surge of gratitude for my friends' unwavering support.

"What does this mean for the ranch?" Casey asked, her eyes sparkling with curiosity.

"It means we can finally start on the house and get some animals," I replied, beaming. "We can repair the barn, hire more workers, and get the ranch back on its feet."

"This is amazing news, Christian," Brett added, patting me on the shoulder. "I'm so proud of you."

As we continued to celebrate, Brett accidentally let it slip that Casey had received a job offer in the city.

"Yeah, Casey's been offered a pretty sweet gig in the city," Brett blurted out, oblivious to the implications of his words.

A hush fell over the room. Casey's face turned pale, and she stared at me with a mix of guilt and apprehension.

"Casey, I didn't know," I said, my voice laced with concern.

Casey took a deep breath and looked me in the eye. "I'm sorry, Christian. I didn't want to tell you until I was sure," she confessed.

"It's okay," I said, trying to hide my disappointment. "I just wish you had told me sooner."

Casey nodded in understanding. "I know. I'm just so torn," she admitted. "I love the ranch, but I also have this amazing opportunity in the city."
