“Guess so,” I said and stood up, walking to the window. “No worries, I’ll figure out a way for you to make it up to me.”Preferably on your knees.“Why did you call?”

“Can you help me?” she asked. “I think I can spin things to your advantage.”

“Sure, Lia,” I said, squinted into the bright sunshine, and smirked. “I’ll help you.”

Pigeons flapped through the rafters of the empty building where I sat and waited, keeping an eye outside and watching the space inside. It was a cavernous, empty room, except for odds and ends of old equipment shoved into corners with sheets over them. There was no second level, save for a small office tucked into the corner with a broken flight of stairs leading up to it and a catwalk wrapped around the building.

Several empty rooms were accessible on both sides, one of which I waited in while the rest were filled with my men.

I’d planned for this exact scenario since I saw the picture of Ty and the blonde. I knew that no matter how much she thought she hated him, even if I convinced her stupid ass that he killed her mother, she could never go through with it.

But he trusted her enough to let her bring him here.

And it was right where I wanted him.

After last night, when Ty had dared to get in my face at that party and declare Lia his, I wanted nothing more than to prove him wrong. It had taken every ounce of my patience to walk away and not fight him there. I knew that would be a tough fight to win and that it could confuse Lia.

It was better to draw him into my trap, snatch her, fuck her in front of him and then shoot Michaelson between the eyes.

The federal can was too good for the likes of him anyway.

Footsteps caught my attention and a shadow darkened the doorway, the man of the hour ducking in; trailed by Lia. Both wore dark clothing and intent expressions, their eyes flashing around the room.

Swinging out of the doorway, I let out a low whistle to alert my guys and Michaelson’s head jerked up, his eyes narrowing when he saw me. I strode over, hands in my pockets; grinning at the both of them.

“Nice to see you,” I said. “Thanks for making thissoeasy.”

Michaelson folded his arms and cocked his head at me. “Did I?”

There were sounds from outside and then shadows at the windows, the sounds of safeties clicking off, and then a red beam of light hit my chest. I pretended to brush it off and kept grinning at Ty.

“You’re shit at covering your tracks,” Michaelson said. “Always were. We know everything, Hendrix, and we’re ending it here and now.”

“Everything?” I asked.

“Volksov,” Michaelson responded, and that caught me off guard. “Blackmailing Weiss.”

“Killing my mother.” Lia stepped up next to Michaelson and fixed her eyes on me.Ah, well, too bad.“You’re done, Hendrix. We’ve turned the tables on you.”

“Oh, fuck.” I pretended to stagger back and Michaelson narrowed his eyes at me while Lia trembled with rage. “Yeah, you got me.”

Lia took a step forward, but Michaelson caught her across the chest, his eyes flashing around the room.

I gave Lia a pitying look. “I’m gonna have to teach you how to lie, sweetheart.” Then I pulled out a gun and fired it into the air.

All at once, the windows on the upper levels smashed in from bullets, causing dust to kick up in the air between me, Michaelson and Lia. I laughed as they ducked back for cover while more of my guys swarmed onto the catwalk and took up positions on either side. Outside, I could hear shouting and more gunfire, then yells about getting to cover.

Michaelson glanced back once, and I fired a shot by his head.

He slowly looked back at me and his dark eyes blazed with fury and aggravation.

I had him completely locked down. I hadn’t even had my snipers shooting at him – just enough to make him realize that he was outnumbered and outgunned.

“I figured it out, Lia,” I called and held up a hand. The bullets stopped, and there were groans from outside. The cords on Michaelson’s neck strained as he looked to the door, but he couldn’t just leave his woman, could he? “I knew that you’d never be able to do it. But I knew you’d be so hell-bent on revenge and that Michaelson trusted you enough, that I could get you both here.”

“Stay back, Lia,” Michaelson snarled as he stared at me and shoved up his sleeves. “This is between us, Hendrix. Leave her out of it.”

“No, she got herself in over her head,” I said and lifted my gun, pretending to aim at her. As expected, Michaelson charged and I moved the gun over to him, grinning when something hit me off the side of the head.
