Giggling like a schoolgirl and not an omnipotent Goddess, She blushed before beaming, "Thank you, King Sith. It is good to see you again. Please rise. We have known one another for too long to stand on formality." Not waiting for a response, She looked to the Hell's Guards. "And also, you, General Heffernan, and your men. It is I who am humbled by your service to Lucifer and the Underworld. You have given your all."

As you can imagine, my mind was blown. I had no idea what was happening, and I didn't care. The need to get to Lucy's side was becoming unbearable.

“Sith, I need….”

“I know what you need, Noel Alexander,” the Goddess replied. “Come here.” She motioned with an elegant fanning of her fingers. “Let us heal your Mate and get you all home where you belong.”

Closing the distance, Sith was silent and stoic as the Goddess again addressed Heffernan. "General, you are free to collect your prisoner, but I would ask a favor."

"Anything for you, Goddess," Heffernan instantly responded. "Allow Gryla to handle her son's punishment. I believe this situation needs a mother's touch. Don't you agree?"

“Indeed.”

No sooner had he uttered the word than Big Daddy's lip body lifted from the ground and disappeared into the portal. All six Guards followed the floating mass with swords drawn. Turning right before he entered the vortex, Heffernan bowed at the waist, "I apologize for the trouble the escapee has caused. Rest assured, he will now be a ward of the TTGH and guarded by one of my own for all eternity."

Standing tall, he locked eyes with Sith, “Thank you, Dragon King. As always, you prove honorable and just. And thank you, Guardsman, for choosing the path of the Light. Live well.”

And with that, he was gone.

Turning back toward Lucy, Sith pushed me to the forefront and slid to the back as we knelt. By the time we touched the floor beside Lucy's arm, I was back in human form, and Sith was watching through my eyes.

Gently taking her hand into mine, I could not take my eyes off her face. Lucy Abigail Bliss Brown was gorgeous – and she was mine.

Glancing up at the Goddess, I didn't even have to speak before she answered the questions going through my mind. "Lucy will be fine. She is strong and incredibly powerful."

“Don’t let her hear you say that,” Ginger scoffed under her breath. “Her ego’s already big enough.”

"And as for you, Miss Ginger Bridgette McCrocker, I applaud your allegiance to Lucy. I know it was not your choice to be in this world, but I commend you for caring for your Witch in her time of need."

"Thank you, Goddess," the two-foot gingerbread woman gushed. "It was really nothing. Well, not nothing. It was hard, but it is my duty, and…."

"And you will stop your yearly shenanigans and assist Lucy without fail."

There was a pregnant pause. It was a statement, not a question, but the Goddess was waiting for a response.

I watched as flashes of light and sparks of sass flittered across Ginger's eyes. The little stinker was wondering how much she could get away with. I knew the second she thought better of trying to outfox the Goddess, forced a smile and nodded, "Absolutely, Goddess Brigid. I will do as you wish." Tilting her head to the side, she batted her eyes and added, "I was only having a little fun."

"Yes, I saw that. Now, you must find another way to, umm… 'blow off steam' as the humans say."

"As you wish," Ginger nodded, then bowed.

Turning back to me, the Goddess touched my shoulder and assured me, "Take good care of our Lucy, Noel Archer. Together, you and she have a great destiny."

Smiling at my Mate, Goddess Brigid nodded, then looked back at me. "She is healed but will require a bit more rest."

"You mean, you…?"

But it was too late. The Goddess had already waved her hand, and Lucy, Ginger, and I were whizzing through Time and Space. Holding tight to my Mate, I felt the electricity of our bond strengthen and whispered into her sleeping mind,“I love you, Lucy Brown-soon-to-be-Archer, and I’m damn sure I always have.”

Waking up while flying through Space and Time is one thing but doing it in the arms of the man made for me by the Universe was the best thing since the invention of a quad-shot-extra-hot-white-chocolate-vanilla-latte-with a heap of whipped cream and cinnamon. Looking into his gorgeous brown eyes sent a shiver down my spine, and when he gently ran the back of his fingers down my cheek, I almost swooned.

Landing in my kitchen, which looked as good as new, my gaze went directly to Aunt Martha's cast iron stove, and I breathed a sigh of relief. Then I saw all three-hundred-and-seventy-two of my antique wooden spoons hanging right where they should be, and I knew everything was right with the world.

Of course, Ginger had to ruin my moment by griping, "Okay, Sleeping Beauty, how about you get up off the floor and show your Mate the house?"

"How about you…? Whoa! Hey! Where are we…?"
