Her heart hammered as it rang. It was nearly eleven now. What if he’d gone to sleep? But moments later he picked up.

“Hello?”

“Daddy?”

“Frankie, hi. I don’t have your number, so I wasn’t sure it was you. But I sure am glad it is. How are you doing, sweetheart?”

She went warm all over, and part of it was lust, and part of it was just the warmth she always felt in the center of her chest hearing his calm voice.

“I’m okay. A little bit tired. I’m sorry it’s so late.”

“Don’t be sorry. I’m not. I’m just happy you called. So, tell Daddy, what sort of space are you in?”

“Always a bit Little when I talk to you. But it might take me a while to unwind from my day.”

“That’s no problem,” he assured her. “We can talk about anything you want. And you can be Big or Little, or anywhere in between, okay?”

“Okay. Thanks for being so nice to me.”

“I always will be, Frankie,” he said, then there was a pause before he cleared his throat. “So, do you want to tell me about work? Or would you rather talk about other stuff?”

“Ugh! I’d rather talk about anything but work.”

He chuckled. “You’ve got it. Hmm…tell me where you are right now so I can get a picture in my head.”

“I’m in my bed. I have my Squishmallow ladybug next to me, and I’m propped up on a bunch of pillows.”

“Are you one of those people who has a dozen pillows on their bed?”

She had to laugh as she leaned back into the six or so piled behind her. “Yep!”

“And you’ve already told me you have a few soft blankets. You like your comfort objects.”

“I do. I mean, life can be so stressful sometimes. I kind of need that little bit of comfort. And you comfort me, too. It’s been really…nice.”

It had been more than nice talking to him for the last week and a half. It had been soothing. Exhilarating. Exciting in a way she’d never felt before. He was comfort and sexiness and totalacceptance of her, no matter which side of her needed to come out.

“It’s been really nice for me, too, Frankie.”

“Has it?”

“Yeah. I couldn’t do this job if Daddying someone wasn’t an intrinsic part of who I am. It fulfills something in me.”

She didn’t like being reminded that this was a job for him. It made her tummy knot up a little bit.

“Oh,” she said quietly.

“Frankie? You know, though, that you’re not just a client to me, don’t you?”

“I, uh… I don’t know,” she said, her nerves fluttering.

“Remember we said we’d talk about why I was willing to break the rules for you?”

“Yep, I remember.”

“I’ve had all day to think about it. And to be honest, it’s not something I necessarily wanted to admit, even to myself. Because me even saying this could cause complications. But Frankie, I really like you. And if I’m being completely honest, the satisfaction I get from our talks, the sense of caring for you and guiding you, is sort of unprecedented.”

Her pulse started to race. “It is?” she asked.
