As I make my way downstairs, a shiver of expectation passes through me as I contemplate the next hour of my life.

My mysterious stranger intrigues me. Is this a date? I’d like to think so, but something is telling its more than that.

It’s almost cloak and dagger and I wonder who he is.

There is something so enslaving about the man I met for a moment in time. One spark from his dark eyes melted me inside. He was an alpha male of the most devastating kind. Tall, dark and handsome doesn’t do this man justice. His muscles have grown muscles, and he is one big tantalizing wall of script that covers his body and leaves me panting.

If my parents saw me talking to him, they would have a heart attack because there was something so deliciously wicked about the way his eyes dragged across my body that would make any principles inside me pack up and leave, waving the white flag of surrender as they go.

My heart is beating frantically as I push my way into Starbucks and as the deep aroma hits me, so do two obsidian eyes, staring at me from a booth in the corner.

My knees shake as I head toward him, and I note two coffees and two panini waiting.

“I already ordered to save you time.”

His deep voice melts my frigid heart as I slide in opposite him and smile shyly.

“Thank you.”

He leans forward and whispers huskily, “I ordered your preferred latte with extra sugar.”

“How…” I raise my eyes in shock, and he chuckles as he sits back against the padded bench seat.

“I know more about you than you do yourself, Laura.”

“Excuse me if that freaks me the fuck out.” I say in shock and then peer at him nervously.

“You’re not a stalker, are you? If you are, I must warn you that I can fight. I also carry an alarm and I’m not afraid to use it.”

“Interesting.” He breaks out into a broad grin. “I will test that theory later when I take you to dinner.”

“What theory?”

“How well you fight.”

He points to the panini.

“There is exactly forty-five minutes before you are expected back, so we don’t have long.”

I stare at him in astonishment as he points to the food.

“Eat and listen.”

I am rather hungry, so I pick up the sandwich and take a bite, loving the flavor of my favorite ingredients.

“You really have done your homework. Why?”

I’m puzzled, and he reaches for his shot of espresso that causes my eyes to roll. Of course, he likes his coffee strong. What a man.

I can’t tear my eyes from his and he leans forward and whispers, “I will pick you up at eight from your apartment. Wear jeans and a thick jacket, leather preferably because we will be traveling by motorbike.”

“You are fucking kidding me.” I stare at him in shock, and he shrugs. “It’s fast and anonymous. As I said, there is a lot to discuss.”

“Who are you?” I mumble between mouthfuls, and he smiles, an act that sends a delicious sensation through my entire body.

“I told you. I’m your guardian angel, and you will thank me.”

“What is your name?” I feel foolish asking and he leans in and whispers, “Adonis.”
