I doubt Laura is feeling the same because this week has probably been the happiest one of her life.

She has found where she belongs and if anything, she blossomed into a woman over there. The Vieris do family well and have made Laura one of their own. As the week progressed, I watched the shadows in her eyes fade and she emerged as a confident woman.

My week was very different. I was scrutinized, questioned, and kept apart from her at night. It was as if I was some high school kid who dared to believe he stood a chance with the prom queen.

It caused much amusement for her cousins, but my frustration merely grew the longer we spent apart.

It took all my powers of persuasion to convince Don Vieri that I had learned my lesson and would never attempt to go against them again.

At the end of it, he shook my hand and smiled warmly, welcoming me into the family and assuring me of his support if I treated Laura well.

I am in no doubt at all about what it would involve if I didn’t, and as the island fades over the horizon, I finally breathe a sigh of relief.

“I miss them already.” Laura sighs as she leans against me, watching the land disappear, with my arms wrapped firmly around her.

“I’m happy it went well.” I nuzzle into her neck, and I mean every word.

I am happy. She deserves it because it must have been strange discovering a family you never thought you had.

“I learned a lot this week.” She says softly as she turns and plants a sweet kiss on my lips.

Pulling back, she says happily, “I learned to love a family I never knew I had. To make friends with my cousins and their partners and the best thing of all, I learned that I love you unconditionally.”

I raise my eyes. “You love me now.”

She giggles and her soft voice carries along on the breeze.

“I do.”

“I said it first.” I remind her and she nods, gripping my hand hard as she leans against me.

“I can’t wait to be alone with you.”

I echo her wishes because this has been the most frustrating week of my life.

“It won’t be long now.” I nuzzle against her head and love the sweet scent of my woman.

“I’m glad you resolved things with my grandfather.” She says happily and I chuckle softly. “I’m, shall we say, relieved I have.”

She grins. ‘He is rather intimidating. I can’t believe you tried to take him on. You’re a brave man, Troy Remington.”

“Some would say foolish.”

I glance around at the guards who patrol the boat and shiver inside. Yes, I was a fool to believe I would ever succeed in challenging a man like Don Vieri.

It doesn’t take longbefore we dock in the harbor and a black car is waiting to take us to the airport.

As we settle back in the car, I am happy to leave Serenita behind us, but accept it will always be a place we visit. Laura assured her grandparents of that and, as if to remind me, she says dreamily, ‘I will love marrying you there.”

“I will marry you anywhere you choose, Laura. You are firmly in charge now.”

“Of you.” She smirks and I nod, staring into her gorgeous eyes, not quite believing how happy she has made me.

I lean forward and, as our lips touch, it creates an explosion of emotion inside me. A cluster bomb of desire and I thank fuck I have a private jet on standby.

I will make love to my woman for the entire flight and show her exactly what she means to me because this week has been a torturous one all the time I couldn’t even touch her.

I don’t even check my emails. There is nothing I would do anyway because the most important thing is spending alone time with the woman I love.
