Anger and sorrow twist my gut. I press the heels of my hands on my eyes.

After everything we’ve been through, fate can’t be this cruel. Aisha and I were always meant to be together. We survived too much to end like this.

I square my shoulders. Even if Aisha can’t remember, I’ll do anything so she falls in love with me again. Recreate every moment we shared, fill her world with joy and laughter until there’s no room left for doubt. She’s the woman I love. And I’m not giving up on us without a fight.

I squeeze my wife’s hand. “There are so many memories I want to share with you, my love. All the moments that made me realize you were the one.”

I think back to our first kiss. We’d been arguing as usual, and in the heat of the moment, I grabbed her face and took her lips. And instead of slapping me, she kissed me back.

Images of our trip to Maui flash through my mind. We spent our days lounging on the beach and our nights fucking under the stars. I asked her to marry me at sunset, with the waves lapping at the shore.

When I look back at her face, I realize my wife is observing me intently, a wistful smile curving her lips. “I wish I could remember.”

“You will.” I brush a stray curl behind her ear. “The doctors said your memory will hopefully return with time. We just have to be patient.”

“What if it doesn’t?” Her eyes shimmer with tears. “What if I’m never the same woman you fell in love with?”

Panic rises in my chest at the thought of losing her forever. I push it down, forcing a reassuring smile. “You’ll always be the woman I love. Memory or not, that will never change.”

Aisha searches my face, as if looking for any sign of doubt. Finding none, she relaxes against her pillow. “You’ve become a very smooth talker.”

“One of my many charms.” I wink, winning a soft laugh from her.

The sound is music to my ears. A wave of hope fills me, chasing away the last bits of despair.

We’ll get through this. Aisha is still here, in my arms where she belongs.

And I will do whatever it takes to help her find her way back to me.

Aisha’s laughter fades, her expression turning pensive. “Do you ever wonder if I’ll be the same in… other ways?”

I struggle for a response. “We’ll take things slow. There’s no need to rush.”

“But what if I’ve forgotten?” Aisha worries her lower lip. “What if I can’t be intimate with you like before?”

Panic and desire war within me, tangling into a messy knot. I want her more than ever, craving the intimacy we shared. But the thought of her pulling away from me, confused and afraid, guts me.

I swallow hard, forcing the words out. “We’ll learn each other again. However long it takes.”

Her eyes shine with tears.I lift her hand to my lips, pressing a kiss to her knuckles. Aisha smiles tremulously. I kiss the inside of her wrist, her pulse fluttering under my mouth. She shivers.

“Cam…”

Heart pounding, I trail my lips higher, along the sensitive skin of her arm. Her breathing quickens as I near the crook of her elbow, a spot I know drives her fucking wild.

“Do you remember this?” I whisper against her skin.

Aisha gasps, her gorgeous eyes sliding shut. For a moment I think she does remember, and triumph surges through me.

Then she blinks up at me, eyes clouded with desire and apology. “I’m sorry, I don’t. But please, don’t stop.”

I swallow my disappointment, focusing on her reaction instead. If I can’t bring back her memory, at least I can give her new ones.

Sliding my hands under her shirt, I caress the soft skin of her back as my mouth finds the hollow of her neck. She arches into my touch with a moan, tilting her head to give me better access.

“Cam…”

The need in her voice fuels my own, and I step between her parted thighs. We’re eye to eye like this, and I see my own lust mirrored in her heated gaze.
