He offers an empathetic smile. “Unfortunately, there’s no way to know for sure. The most important thing is to avoid stress, get plenty of rest, and allow your mind to heal at its own pace.”

I nod, somewhat comforted by his words.

“Thank you, Doctor…”.

“Of course, dear.” He gives me a kind smile.

I smile back. “I should let you get back to your day. Thank you again for the advice, and for taking care of me on the boat.”

“You’re most welcome.” He hesitates. “Will you be alright on your own?”

I nod, offering a smile I hope is reassuring. “I’ll be fine. You’ve given me plenty to think about.”

“Good. If you need anything else, please don’t hesitate.” He reaches into his pocket, pulling out a business card. “Here’s my contact information. I’m staying at a villa nearby for the next week.”

I take the card from his outstretched hand.

“Thank you, Dr. Moore. I’ll be in touch if I have any more questions.”

Then, with a small wave, he turns and continues his walk down the beach.

I stand there for a long moment, watching the waves roll in and crash along the shore. Dr. Moore’s words echo in my mind, bringing me some sense of peace. It’s normal to have amnesia after I hit my head. I’ll eventually regain my memories. The tension in my shoulders eases a bit. I breathe in the salty air, closing my eyes. Hope flickers inside me.

I start walking, sand squishing between my toes. The sun warms my skin as I stroll along the beach. The panic and fear from earlier start to fade away. I don’t need to figure everything out right now. Or force the memories. I just need to give myself time.

Chapter 5

I wake up in the middle of the night in Cam’s arms and a flood of emotions wash over me. Confusion. Anxiety. Lust.

He stirs beside me and pulls me closer, his morning wood pressing against my ass. Heat rises in my cheeks.

How did we end up here? We’ve been rivals for as long as I can remember, always competing over everything. Now we’re stranded on this damn island together and my traitorous body only wants him.

“Mornin’, wifey,” he murmurs, his full lips brushing the back of my neck.

A delicious shiver runs down my spine. I try to ignore it. “We need to figure out how to get off this island.”

“Plenty of time for that.” He rolls me on my back and cages me in with his big arms. His fiery gaze burns into mine, filled with hunger and something more—something that makes my chest tighten.

Cam leans down and kisses the side of my neck, his stubble rasping my skin. My resolve starts to crumble as heat drips between my legs.

“We should get up.” I sound breathless even to my own ears.

“In a minute.” His hand slides up my thigh, inching under my clothes. “Let me take care of you first.”

I suck in a sharp breath. My mind screams no, but my traitorous body arches into his touch.

Dammit, I can’t deny this pull between us.

I crash my lips onto Cam’s, pouring all my pent-up desire and frustration into the kiss. He groans and kisses me back fiercely, his hand sliding higher up my thigh.

When we come up for air, Cam searches my face. A slow, sexy grin spreads across his lips. “Does this mean you’re finally giving in?”

“Shut up and kiss me again.”

Cam chuckles and obliges, rolling on top of me. Looks like we won’t be leaving this bed anytime soon. Not that I mind.
