“Yeah let’s go home.”
“It was nice meeting you guys I will come by more.” Nicole gives them a smile and they smile back at her.
“Sounds like a plan.” AJ says. I got into Nicole’s car and I drove us home. When we got home Nicole slumps on the bed.
“Come to bed Christopher deal with it in the morning.” I lay down and wrap her in my arms.
“Do you really think your friend can help?” I ask.
“I do, but there's only so much he can do.”
“I understand, thank him for me. I know you want to keep this friend of yours a secret. Does Kate know the guy?”
“She does, why?”
“Just wondering. Daniel talked to her this morning she kinda said she was busy helping you with a favor.”
“Yeah, I needed her help getting in touch with a friend of ours. Daniel doesn’t have to worry she’s not in trouble well nothing that she can’t handle.” I look at her and sigh. Daniel and I have been dealing with Kate’s father for years and he’s a piece of work I don’t like the guy but he always did pay us back our money.
“Are you sure she’s okay?” I ask worried.
“If I knew something was really wrong I would’ve told Daniel already.” Yeah, she has a point but I’m still going to worry she’s practically my sister. Daniel's had a thing for her since the day he met her and he hasn’t given up on her.
“Point made, get some sleep baby.” She wraps her legs around me and we drift to sleep.
Waking up I have a message from William that is very surprising.
William- Can we talk?
Christopher- Sure where do you want to meet?
William- At the house.
Christopher- Be there in a bit.
What the hell does he want to talk about I slowly got out of bed not waking Nicole and got dressed. I drove to William’s house and knocked on the door. He opens the door and he looks nervous as he should be after what he did to Nicole I would kill him if it wasn’t for the fact that she doesn’t want him dead.
“What is it that you want to talk about?”
“I have half of the money I owe you I was hoping you would give me Nicole back and I’ll pay the rest in a mouth.” He has the fucking nerve.
“I’ll take the money Nicole is working off the other half for you and for the last time mind you. I’m keeping Nicole she is mine now.”
“We had a deal.”
“No William we didn’t. You gave up your daughter to save your own ass and you should know by now I keep what I own. You are free now don’t ever come back to me or my brother for money. Don’t contact me again and by the way, Nicole is perfectly fine she’s safe and happy with a family that has always been there for her.”
“You can’t do this.”
“Yes I can. I do have a question, that year when you had her leave what did you make her do?” He takes a step back yeah I kinda figured I won’t like the answer to my question.
“You know what forget it I’ll wait until Nicole is ready to tell me.” I grab the money from the table and leave his house without saying another word. The fact that he looks terrified makes me feel a little better too. I know today is going to be a long day but this was not how I wanted to spend my morning. I drove back home and laid back in bed. Nicole was still sleeping she rolls over and her head is on my chest.
“Where did you go?” she mumbles.
“Your father wanted to talk.” Her head shot up.
“What did he want?” she asked with a very upset look on her face.
“He gave me half of the money he owes me and he wanted you back. I told him that I was keeping you and he didn’t really take that well.” She lays her head back down on my chest and relaxes once again.
“I’m happy right where I’m at.”
“I know and I told him just that. I was never going to give you back Nicole.”
“I was hoping you wouldn’t.” Nicole kisses my lips than lays back down, now this is how you start your morning.
