Chapter Two

Nicole

Waking up I’m in a room I don’t recognize then it all hit me at once, my dad sold me to Christopher Thorn and I’m in Thorn mansion. Don’t get me wrong this place is beautiful but I’m here against my will. This will be the last time I ever help my father out with a debt. The door opens and Daniel walks in, not the brother I was expecting but this may work to my advantage.

“Hey, Nicole how are you?”

“How do you think?”

“Sorry, stupid question. Are you hungry?”

“No, not really. I do have a favor to ask.”

“Nicole you know I can’t just let you go.”

“I wasn’t going to ask that.”

“Sorry, what can I help you with?’

“I need to get something from my house would you please take me there so I can pick up things I need, I promise I won't try to escape.”

“What do you need from your house?” This might actually work.

“Clothes my books and my laptop and before you say anything it’s not to ask for help I’m an author I write and publish my books and everything gets done on my laptop.” Daniel looks at me but doesn’t say a word I hold my breath waiting for some type of response.

“Okay, I’m going to trust you not to do anything stupid like send an SOS message to anyone.”

“I’m not stupid I wouldn’t try that. I know how this works.”

“Alright then let's get your stuff it will help with your new room.” I hugged Daniel.

“Thank you.”

“You’re welcome don’t make me regret it.”

“I won’t.” Thank God this place will suck less if I can write and read books. I got into Daniel’s car and he drove straight to my house, it’s a little weird how I didn’t have to give directions to my house. I glance over and he shrugs his shoulders.

“How long have you two known where I live?” I ask with my arms crossed over my chest.

“Do you really want to know the answer to that question?”

“Yes, I do.”

“If you say so we have known about it since the day you moved in.” My mouth drops open in shock.

“How? Why?”

“You ask a lot of questions Nicole.”

“Answer them!”

“To keep an eye on you to make sure you are safe that’s all you need to know.” That leaves me with more questions, why would they care if I’m safe or not. I pack up all my books and my clothes into bags. Daniel helps pack my stuff then place them in his car.

“Is that everything?”

“Yeah, you can take me back to my cell.”

“Nicole!” He says in a warning.
