I bite down on my lower lip, tilting my hips toward him with each desperate pivot. I’m so close. He pushes two fingers into me, my body tenses. My skin’s on fire. I tilt my head back as he strokes me faster.

That’s when my climax tears through me.

He holds onto me tightly as I shudder for dear life, a scream tearing from my throat, my pussy quivering as I come all over his mouth.

At that perfect moment, I swear I’ll never forget. His phone rings.

I try to ignore it, but Jake pulls away from me, shattering perfection. His attention is completely diverted, leaving me shaking on the couch from the best orgasm.

And he’s answering the call.

What the fuck?!

I’m stunned, watching him stride across the room, his voice low and murmuring into the phone, as if he’s trying to hide the conversation. My mind’s racing… is it his girlfriend?

Did he forget I’m even here?

Fury and embarrassment burn across my cheeks and travel down my neck. Hastily, I rush to my feet, shoving my dress down from my waist.

He’s suddenly turning toward me, finishing his call, pushing his phone into his pocket. His face is flushed, and there’s something dark behind his gaze.

“Look, I’m really sorry. I gotta go,” he says, already reaching for the door.

“Wait, what’s going on?” I hate that I even asked him, but his rejection hurts sharply.

He stands there, disappointment etched on his face, then he pulls open the door.

“It’s an emergency. Sorry. See you around, pretty girl.” He vanishes out of the room.

“Fuck!” My legs are trembling under me, confusion and hurt swallowing me. Is this really happening?

The agonizing pain of him dumping me like this is humiliating, my chest squeezing rapidly. Without pausing, I march out of the room, needing to get the hell out of this house, hating that I even came here.

A figure steps into the doorway, and it’s not Jake but one of his buddies, leering at me with a sleazy grin.

“Hey, sweetheart, want me to finish where Jake didn’t?”

Rage ignites inside me, and I want to die from embarrassment.

“Get lost!” I hiss, rushing past him, my shoulder slamming into his as I bolt for the front door of the house.

The party feels like a maze, and tears blur my vision. I swear every eye is on me, whispered voices about me, but I don’t care. I don’t know that jerk or most of the people at this party.

I need to get out. Not seeing Sarah on the way, I decide to message her once I’m free from here. Rushing past the front door, the cool night hits me as I burst into the night.

My breaths come out into ragged gasps as I hurry from the house, the sounds of the party fading, and now I feel cold, exposed, and hollow.

I hate Jake for doing that to me.

CHAPTER FOUR

JAKE

Exhaustion doesn’t come close to describing how I feel this morning.

The bedside alarm’s blaring, but I can barely open my eyes, sleep clinging to me. Last night, it took me over an hour to get back to my dorm, but this morning, I can’t even muster the energy to hit the alarm off. I want to lie in bed all day.

“Get the fuck up,” Ryan’s voice cuts through my drowsiness.
