"I'll see you two tomorrow." He didn't wait for a response, before nearly running out the back door.

My anxiety ramped up again, but Miller moved in, the alpha putting a reassuring hand on my shoulder. His touch settled me in a way I didn’t expect, and I found myself leaning into the attractive older alpha.

"He's overwhelmed, but I've never seen him happier," he admitted. "Be kind to yourself, Summer. You were very strong today. Everything will work out."

Mint and Orange blossom surrounded me and I breathed Miller in, my breath hitching. The reassurance and praise he had given me settled around my shoulders like a warm blanket. A sexy warm blanket I didn’t know what to do with when I was already burning up.

But Miller, just like the rest, didn’t say anything about the connection between us.

One I felt with every single last one of them. I swear fate was fucking with me and throwing everything at me at once.

Thank fuck for being on blockers and suppressants for years. The last thing I could handle on top of everything else was them finding out I was their scent match too.

"You ready?" Dean asked gently.

I turned and gave the alpha a nod.

"As I'll ever be."

As I made my way out of the bay and to Beatty's, my eyes never strayed too far away from the omega in the front seat next to me.

There was something about her the first time I'd seen her, blonde hair blowing in the wind and cautious as hell when she realized I was an alpha. That reaction alone had all my protective instincts rising. No omega should ever have to feel like that.

The last thing I thought is that I would be the one to bring home the omega Cole had talked about for years. I was just thankful that she believed me and that she trusted me enough to drive her and Theo home safely. I shuddered to think of them in that hazard of a car.

Honestly, I was going to give the whole car a once over on the house. She was already pack, because of her ties to Cole, and I couldn’t have her driving in a death trap. Sometimes it was the little things that could easily go wrong. Those we could prevent.

Though knowing my dad, he was already on it.

Summer had yet to say anything to me, but Theo was singing happily in the backseat to the music I'd put on. I'd never been more grateful for Bash's nieces and their incessant love of music.

I just wish there was something I could do to make her as happy and relaxed as her little boy was in the backseat. The entire trip she had been rubbing her knuckles back and forth against the fabric of her pants, and at this rate I was worried she was going to rub them raw.

"You're going to need that hand later," I told her, gently placing my hand on hers to halt her movements. "I'm not going to sit here and ask you if you're alright, because we both know the answer to that, but I will ask you what you need right now. What can I do to help, Summer?"

Her mouth popped open in surprise as I turned onto the street 'ol Beatty had lived on for years. Not for the first time in the trip did I wish I could scent her, to gain some type of insight into what she was feeling other than her expressions.

It was apparent she was on blockers, and from her reaction earlier to me, I didn't want to think too long and too hard about why or else I was going to be liable for something.

"You want to help me?" She questioned. "Even after you found out who I was? There was no mistaking by everyone's reaction that you know what happened."

"Of course I want to help you," I told her, giving her hand I still held a squeeze. "There are two sides to every story, and this is the kind of story where blame only hurts all sides involved. From what I've seen, you both have already had your fair share of that."

Summer shook her head. "Just like that?"

"Just like that," I confirmed.

"Well, I'm certainly not in the city anymore," she said with an exhausted laugh. "I forgot how welcoming everyone is in Holiday Hollow."

"True," I agreed. "There's no place in the world quite like Holiday Hollow, but it's more than that, Summer. You're pack now. Whatever you need, if it's in our power to give it to you, it's yours."

"P-Pack?"

"Pack," I said firmly. "You and Cole share a bond in more ways than one. You were his pack long before we met him, and we're his pack now. That means that you're pack too, Summer. You're not alone in this anymore."
