"Yeah?"

"Share my number with Cole too, please? Just in case."

"Will do, Sunshine. He's going to be pleased as punch to have it."

The entire way back to the shop all I could think about was Cole. Seeing one of my pack emotionally distraught wasn’t easy. His face when he saw her for the first time again, was pure pain.

We’d never held any resentment toward Summer. Relationships were hard and they were young and we didn’t have enough details to really form an opinion. Not to mention, the only opinions that mattered when it came to their relationship, was Cole and Summer.

When I hopped out of the SUV and walked back into the shop, Cole still wasn’t around. Though Miles had come out of his cave to join us, his face twisted with concern.

“Hey, Dean,” he greeted me as I walked up. Bash tucked himself into my side as I gave Miles’ shoulder a squeeze.

“She’s back home safe. I assume you know all the details thanks to Bash?”

My omega snorted out a laugh and poked me in the ribs.

“You know he did,” Miles answered. He had such a quiet, serious way of speaking. It garnered attention more than if he had shouted. “Cole hasn’t come back yet either.”

“Give him time,” Dad called out as he rejoined us. “I took a look and did a top off of her fluids. I still want to do a full check-up, off the books. We can’t have her driving a child around in that old car unless we know it’s safe.”

“I had the same thought,” I said, laughing softly. “She’s pack.”

Miles’ eyebrows rose but he nodded. “I spend the morning going over financials for the quarter, and you guys wind up having a whole situation down here.”

“If you worked in the shop, you’d know all the gossip,” Bash teased. Miles used to have a desk down here, but with the music and noise, he couldn’t get anything done. Not to mention the messy work it sometimes was.

He was the only one of us who craved quiet and needed time alone.

Well, with the exception of Cole right now. My eyes drifted to the door and I wondered if I should go out and look for him.

“No, he needs time alone to process,” Dad said gently. “He’ll come back when he’s ready.”

“I’ll order dinner,” I said, worried he’d need some food. “Fuck, I wish he was in the pack house. I don’t like the idea of him spending the night alone.”

“He’ll be fine,” Dad promised, though even he looked uncertain. I knew he wasn’t going to hurt himself or worse, but I also knew he wouldn't get a blink of sleep. He’d stay up all night worrying about her and Theo.

“All that talk of pies has me wanting a slice. I’ll run over to Bruno’s Pizza and grab enough for all of us,” Bash said.

He didn’t wait for an answer before walking out. Most places I’d worry about my omega going alone. Holiday Hollow was different. It was safe and I knew that Bash could hold his own.

Not to mention he wouldn’t let me hover like that.

“How were they?” Miles asked me when the others had drifted away from us.

“Perfect.” The word came out before I could really think about it. He raised his eyebrows in surprise but waited for me to continue. “Theo looks so much like Cole, and he loves cars. The tow truck was definitely a highlight for him.”

“And Summer?” The way his lips tipped up in a small smile told me I wasn't as subtle as I thought.

“From the first moment I saw her on the side of the road, she had all of my instincts roaring to life. She’s just as broken and strong as Cole. Keeps it together, barely. But when they saw each other… that’s a pain that runs deep.”

He winced. “I know we don’t know everything, but I really hate how bad things got, we can’t let him go there again. I’m sure it was a shock to find out he has a kid. I know I was surprised when they told me.”

“He handled it well,” I said, the pride in my voice making him smile. “Now we just have to be patient and see how it all unfolds.”

It would be hard and messy, but worth it. Theo deserved family and so did Summer. Either way, I knew he would be glad they were home now.

The creak of the back door had us all looking up to see Cole walking in. He looked like the entire world was on his shoulders.
