“Yes, but we’re showing up fully prepared with entertainment and games for Theo and food and drinks. She won’t have to lift a finger, and she’ll have so many extra sets of hands clamoring to help.”

“I’ve already told her that we have her back no matter what, and Cole said she agreed to get to know us,” Dean reminded him. “This is a way for her to do that. It’s also a way for us to show her what having a pack means. From what he’s said, her parents are just a pair and not super present, and we all know no one can tame ‘ol Beatty.”

Miles hummed. “Reducing her load would probably reduce her stress. Plus, working together as a pack is more efficient in a lot of ways. She’s clearly intelligent and driven, having pursued her degree in the city all while raising Theo. We’ll just need to make sure to demonstrate our value to show her we’re an asset so she has a frame of reference.”

“Exactly,” I said triumphantly, turning around to smile at my best friend in the backseat. Even if his words were a bit intense and overly logical, he came to the conclusion all the same.

Dean, Miles and I had rode together while Miller was with Cole in his. There was no way five grown men were going to fit in a vehicle with all the food and gifts we’d brought.

Okay, so the gifts might overwhelm Summer slightly. But I tried to be sneaky with them, appealing to things that were practical or that I wanted to share with her because I liked them as a fellow omega.

A lot of them were for Theo too, so hopefully she didn’t have an issue with us spoiling him rotten. We’d gotten some toys, yes, but more than that, we’d gotten things that we could dotogetherwith him, ensuring future chances for us to bond.

When I was on a mission, I couldn’t help but go all out. It helped that Miles indulged me and helped research kids Theo's age to see exactly what he'd like to do. We already had a leg up since he was obsessed with cars. The racetrack we brought would get plenty of use, I was sure of it.

We parked in front of Beatty's house and I saw Theo's head of wild curls peak through the curtains. A moment later, the door was thrown wide open, and he surged out. My heart stopped and both of our vehicles came to a halt. Summer was out the door in mere seconds, nearly tackling him. Of course, he just laughed like he hadn't just scared every single one of us.

"Remind me to build a damn fence," Dean muttered, his voice just as strained as I felt.

"He's quick," Miles noted as we all started climbing out. Summer's eyes widened at the sight of all of us and the armful of goodies we had brought.

"Um, what's going on?"

Cole reached them first, leaning down to offer Theo a quick hug before brushing a kiss over Summer's lips. Her cheeks tinted pink and she blinked over at us as if she were afraid we'd get angry. If only she knew how fucking happy it made us.

"We came to have dinner with you guys," I announced with a bright smile. "A barbecue, to be exact. We've got it all covered, you two just get to enjoy."

It took a minute for the words to sink in before her shoulders finally slumped and she nodded her head in agreement.

"Oh, I think I can do that," she said with a tired laugh. "He's been running wild all afternoon."

"We've brought some things to keep him occupied, if you don't mind?" Miles hedged.

"This is Miles, by the way," I said, my best friend blushing furiously. Sometimes he wasn't the best at social cues, but he did try.

"Nice to meet you, Miles," she said with a friendly smile. "I'd shake your hand, but mine are full." Her voice changed at the last statement, teasing her son as she tickled him.

His giggles were one of the best sounds I'd heard. We always talked about wanting a big family, and we were already taking steps to creating it.

She hasn't said she'd join your pack.

The little voice in my head was a dick, but he was right. I had no doubts in my mind that they would be ours if we played our cards right. We already cared about her. Honestly, the way Cole had talked about her for the past few years, I felt like I already knew her. Bottom line, we weren’t letting Cole or her go anywhere, and a part of me knew we'd all be wanting to claim her for our own too.

"Let me help you with that," Dean teased, leaning down and stopping by Theo. "Let's hide."

He ran off after whispering they'd be in the backyard, letting the sweet boy shout out directions as they ran.

"Can I help you carry things in?" Summer offered.

"We've got it," Miller said. "Why don't you show us the way? Then we'll come back out for it all."

"How much did you bring?" she accused playfully. "You don't get to spoil him rotten. He'll be impossible."

"What if we spoil him just a little?" I offered instead, giving her a mischievous grin she saw right through.

"Oh no, I don't trust that for a second," she laughed. The sound was carefree and musical and it stirred something inside of me.

"You shouldn't," Miles confirmed.
