I would try a sip or two but at this point that was all. Getting Summer home safely was top priority.

"So, where were we?" she asked when we were alone again.

"You were meddling," I teased with a brush of my lips over hers. "I'll speak to him soon. Gauge where he's at. I'm perfectly happy taking things as slow as he needs. He just found you and that takes priority."

She smiled softly. "Alphas are always so black and white. You know there is capacity for both relationships, without detracting from the other, right?"

"I do," I agreed. "However we aren't mates, just pack."

"Don't use the word just," she accused, narrowing her eyes. "It's valid, mates or not."

"Okay, okay," I conceded, giving her a squeeze.

I was saved by dessert. The waitress carried out both plates and the chilled glasses of wine, setting them down in front of us. The plates were just as fancy as the rest, a chocolate drizzle decorating both, and the tiramisu even had gold dusting on it.

"Don't touch!" Summer said when I reached for the fork. She dug out her phone and took a few pictures before finally letting me move again. It was adorable, and I couldn't help but grin as she sent the images off to the group chat to tease the others.

I made a mental note to grab dessert to go for the rest of the group, knowing they'd appreciate it. Bash was likely already drooling over the picture.

"Am I allowed to move now, omega?" I demanded. She nodded imperiously, blue eyes sparkling with amusement.

"You may," she conceded, shifting so I could move my arm more easily.

I reached for the first fork, digging into the chocolate cake. She opened her mouth dutifully, knowing I'd give her the first taste. Her moan had me rock hard, and I didn't bother to stop myself from licking the chocolate sauce from her chin that had been left behind. Her eyes darkened and I just smirked, picking up the glass to offer her the paired wine.

"This might be my favorite part of this date so far," I teased. "You sure you won't come home with me?"

She frowned then, the lust falling away and she sighed.

"No, I can't keep leaving Theo like this," she pointed out. He was hanging with Beatty tonight. Having my omega at a different house was killing me. All I wanted to do was go home, and show her how much she meant to me, by making her come as many times as possible. Now I'd have to settle for my hand.

There was no anger in me at her answer, simply disappointment.

We needed to find a solution.

"No worries," I promised, grabbing the other fork and letting her taste the second dessert. Her eyes rolled back as she groaned in approval. I tasted it though my eyes never left her.

The end of this meal would be pure fucking torture.

Summer

Walking away from Miller's car and up to Beatty's front door was the last thing I wanted to do. What I really wanted was the best of both worlds, and I couldn't find a way to make that happen. I loved being here with my grandmother and so did Theo, but my heart stayed with my pack.

Miller kept a neutral smile on his face as he walked me to the porch and made sure I was through the front door. His eyes were sad when I walked inside and it nearly had me running back into his arms.

The house was quiet as I locked the door behind me, and I glanced at my phone to realize Theo was likely passed out.

A quiet creak had me jumping and glancing into the dark living room. Like she was some sort of interrogator, my grandma turned on the lamp next to her and stared me down, rocking slow and menacing as she gave me the stink eye.

"Why are you here?"

I blinked at her, processing what the fuck was happening right now. She was crazy, but this was a new level, even for her.

"I live here," I reminded her slowly. What the hell was she up to?

She snorted and shook a gnarled finger at me. "Don't sass me, Summer. Why are you doing this to yourself?"
