“I don’t know where Johnny is and I don’t trust that fucker, so tell me right the fuck now, where she is.”

“At the Bellagio, suite 3607.”

“And she’s alone?”

“Yes, but I left her only a few minutes ago. She’s fine.”

“Fuck!” A heat shot up Nick’s spine as his gut twisted. “Get back there now. I’m on my way.”

Nick hit Cheryl’s number one more time and waited.

“Surprised?” Johnny braced himself on the doorframe.

“What are you?—”

“You didn’t think I’d let you get away with leaving me, did you?” His overly bright eyes shown under the bathroom lights.

“How did you get in?” Her heart slammed into her ribs as she gathered the robe together and cinched the sash.

“Just like your father. You always underestimate me.”

“How did you get a key?”

“The front desk was happy to give me a key. After all, I am your husband. That and a few well-placed hundreds and here I am.” He stepped into the room blocking the doorway.

“How did you know where I?—”

“I know you spent the night at Nick’s penthouse, and then I followed you here.”

She cut a quick glance to the tub, inches from overflowing. Her brain scrambled for a way out. “Let me shut off the faucets.”

“Don’t move.”

She mentally accessed the contents she’d unpacked on the countertop. Unfortunately, the tiny nail scissors wouldn’t help.

“Your fuck buddy, Nick, called me before with a sweet deal. He also said you were just a random fuck and he wasn’t gonna let a bitch get in the way of business.”

Johnny’s eyes darted around the room unhinged and way more desperate than yesterday. “So, even though you fuckedhim, you don’t mean shit to him.” His rage vibrated against the tiled walls. “And the only reason he even went near you was to get back at me. He was always jealous of my relationship with Frank back in Brooklyn, and now I even married the boss’s daughter.”

Her phone vibrated against the bathroom counter, and Johnny lunged for it. He glared at the screen, swiped at it, then put it to his ear. “Sorry Nick, your whore can’t come to the phone.” Then he shut off the device and threw it behind him into the other room.

Cheryl baby-stepped away from the tub as water seeped over the side. The spa jets thundering in the background.

“Now it’s just you and me.” Johnny threw back his head and his crazed laugh vibrated against the tile walls.

“Fuck!” Nick yelled into the dead phone, then jogged to the elevator. He frantically punched the buttons, then hit Samson’s number. “Where are you?” he yelled into the phone.

“At Wicked checking in a liquor delivery.”

“Meet me at the Bellagio. Now.”

Nick exited the elevator, and yelled at the valet for his car. When his car showed up he sped away from the building. On a good day without traffic he could make it there in fifteen minutes. He just hoped fifteen minutes would be soon enough.

Johnny stalked closer to Cheryl. “Your father and I made a deal, and you were part of it. Or did you forget how I saved your ass and Nick’s bastard child?” Johnny lunged and body slammedher into the wall. Her breath whooshed out of her as his weight pinned her against the tile.

“If it wasn’t for me you’d probably be rotting in some jail for murder and Nick's brat of a kid would be in the system.”

Cheryl thrashed against him, trying to break free, but his manic strength overpowered her. He snatched her hair coiling it around his fist then dragged her to the edge of the tub.
