Deciding I want answers, I get right to the point. "Why am I here?"

The green-eyed one, Barrett, laughs so hard he almost spits out his drink. "Don't you think that's a bit rude, princess? We haven't even had dinner yet."

"I've been here long enough without answers, don’t you think?" I spit out, raising an eyebrow at them.

The guys all share a look, and the one they call Sebastian stands up and asks me, "How do you like your steak?"

"Umm, medium, but can you just answer my question? Why am I here? If you're going to kill me, do me a favor and just get it over with already. I'd rather not wait around for it to happen."

"We aren't going to kill you," Barrett tells me as Sebastian walks into the kitchen. "Let's get through some introductions and maybe get to know each other a bit before we dive into the specifics of why you're here."

Ilook over at Kyler to see if he will say anything different, but he only brings his hand over and places it on top of my knee in a gesture to calm me down. Fuck their stupid dinner party. I want answers, and I'm tired of playing nice.

Kyler’s hand moves slightly up my leg, and I glare at him before shoving it off. He brings it back down with enough force that I know I’ll have bruises from the imprint of his fingers tomorrow. Fine, apparently, his hand stays.

After a few minutes of the most uncomfortable silence ever, the door whips open, and plates of food are placed in front of me and Kyler. Sebastian walks back into the kitchen and grabs two more plates, placing one in front of Barrett and the other in his spot.

He sits down, looking at me as I eye up the plate in front of me, and he firmly says, "Eat. We'll talk after you finish."

"Fine. Tell me something, though. Who are all of you?" I question.

The smartass with green eyes decides to answer my question. "We already told you who we are. I'm Barrett, that is Sebastian, and I'm pretty sure you’re well acquainted with Ky by now."

My cheeks instantly redden. My eyes dart over to Kyler. His hands shoot up in defense.

"Don't look at me. Barrett here likes to watch the security feeds," Kyler snickers. "He likes to watch in general if you didn't pick up on that before dinner when he walked in on us."

"I like to participate too." Barrett shrugs and chuckles.

"You're the one who talked to me over the speaker the other day. I tried to find the cameras but was never able to, so props for that, I guess."

He grins at the compliment like that was the nicest thing I could have said to him. "I've been watching you for a while, princess."

We eat through most of our meal, continuing to talk about more pointless things, and I grow increasingly irritated with all the fake conversation.

"Can we skip all of this small talk? Just tell me what I'm doing here," I demand, hoping to get answers this time.

"Are you sure you want to know? There's no going back once it's out in the open," Kyler tells me, like not knowing why I've been kidnapped could be better than what he’s about to tell me.

"Spit it out already," I state firmly.

Sebastian clears his throat and begins to say. "You see, your father.."

"I fucking knew it," I interrupt.

"Do you want me to tell you or not?" Sebastian scoffs.

"Yes," I grumble. "I won't interrupt you again. Tell me what mess my fucking father got me into this time."

"Your father owes us payment and decided not to follow through. You are here to encourage him to provide us what we are owed. It's simple. He gives us what we want, and we give him you. An even trade, and you can go on living your fantasy lives," Sebastian states.

Oh no, no, no. Idrop the fork on my plate, completely losing my appetite. The contents of the dinner I already ate feel like dead weight in my gut. They're going to give me to him. Did they already tell him I'm here? Is that why they moved me to the house? Have they struck a deal with him? My breathing shallows, and my heart begins to race. I can feel the panic setting in. My vision tunnels, and the words around the room start to blur. My head spins with the fear of my father having me back in his grasp after all these years. Everything crashes around me. Memories of the loss of my mother and Maxton. I feel like I am drowning in emotions, and I can't breathe.

I don't realize what's happening until a warm body surrounds me and pulls me out of my momentary state of paralysis. I inhale, and the familiar scent of iris brings me back to reality. It's Kyler. He has me in a hug and is rubbing my back to try to calm me down. Once I stabilize my breathing, he pulls back and looks at me. "Callie, What the fuck is going on. Are you ok?" I look up at him, feeling smaller than I've felt in a long time.

"You can't tell him I'm here," I whisper, tears welling in my eyes. I feel the emotions bubbling up. I’m about to lose it again. "Please." I knew there was a possibility of them being connected to my father in some way, but hearing it out loud, it's all too much for me. "I can find a way to pay you whatever he owes you." My eyes go to the floor, ashamed at how pathetic and weak I must look right now. "I'll do anything you want me to do; just please don't send me back to him."

"He doesn't owe us money," Sebastian says, completelyuncaring about my current emotional state.
