She had time.

Thirty was still young enough to fall in love and start a family. Many women chose careers over a family at her age. Bella was just doing it a different way.

“Yes,” she said, lowering her drink. “I am.”

Knox turned and placed a hand on her back. She leaned in as he said, “Good choice, Bella. Tom is a good guy.”

A chill ran down her spine as a familiar dark voice spoke behind her, lighting her body up like a Christmas tree. “Bella.”

When she turned, she came face to face with Blake. His gray eyes locked onto her possessively, and she was powerless to look away.

He did, though. Scowling at all the men behind her.

One of them, her very protective brother.

Oh, boy.

CHAPTER TEN

“Blake.” Her voice wassmoky as she turned to him.

He knew he was standing too close to Bella. Not the socially acceptable half a step away. Instead, half his body was behind her.

Possessively.

Blake still hadn’t drawn his eyes away from the big guy beside her who was two, no, three times her size. And speaking of numbers, she had a circle of men—Jesus more like suitors—standing around her like she was Princess fucking Diana.

One of the men smirked at his reaction, but Blake's gaze was already dropping to Bella’s. To those same green orbs which were glazed with pleasure less than twenty-four hours ago.

They locked with his, almost pleadingly.

I got you, baby. Just say the word and I’ll take you home.

His stare intensified as his brow lifted just an inch and his hand, without permission, landed on her hip.

Fuck.
