“Watch where the fuck…” a tall broad guy with wavy black hair says.

He spins to face me with a look of anger which quickly morphs into something else.

“I’m so sorry. I wasn’t looking where I was going. Are you ok?”

He gives me an inquisitive look, correcting his stance.

“No need for apologies. Don’t think I’ve seen you here before. I never forget a beautiful face. You must be new here?”

There’s a twinkle of mischief in his chocolate brown eyes.

“Ah yeah. Sorry again,” I say, hiking my backpack up my shoulder getting ready to step around him.

A slow smile spreads across his face, “It’s all good. Feel free to bump into me anytime beautiful. What’s your name?”

I move hastily past him towards the school entrance. “I better go. Don’t want to be late on the first day and all.”

“I’m Colton,” he shouts making me turn around.

I point my thumb towards the front door whilst trying hard not to bump into anyone else.

“I really can’t stop, but sorry again.”

“That’s ok. You don't need to tell me your name. I’ll have it by the end of the day,” he says, following it up with a cool wink before veering off to the side towards a large group of people that’s emerged from the side entrance.

Jeez, cocky much?

Once inside I find the main office and locate Mrs Simms, the clerical officer who doesn’t even bother to look in my direction as she provides me with my locker code and class schedule.

I look over the schedule with my name printed at the top of the page.

“You made a mistake in my name. Its Richmond. Not Richmonds. There’s no S,” I correct, watching her let out a sigh of annoyance as she hesitantly lifts her gaze to mine.

“Right,” she drawls out. “I’m sure someone will get that fixed for you.”

“Very kind of you, thanks,” I quip back smartly, wondering what her problem is.

The locker banks are so long it takes me ages to finally find the one I need. Opening the locker, I’m immediately forced to take a step back when the smell from inside it almost knocks me off my feet.

“Jesus that stinks,” I say waving my hand back and forth in front of my nose. I don’t know who had this last but it’s so bad I almost gag. I give it a spray with some deodorant I thankfully keep in my bag and shove in what I don’t need, lock it, and pull up my class schedule.

World History. That’s not so bad.

Chapter Ten

Jordin

IfollowthemapI’m given that shows where each class is and eventually find the room I’m looking for, making it just on time and no more. I feel as if I’ve walked for miles this school is that big.

The class is full of students and so loud I can barely hear myself think. Scanning the room quickly I find an unoccupied seat, getting more than a few curious looks when I walk past each desk. They're obviously checking out the new girl so I keep my head down until I’m seated. It’s a beautiful room with fancy art on the walls and the comfiest seats I’ve ever sat on.

“I wouldn’t sit there if I were you,” a girl with the shiniest brown hair I’ve ever seen says to me. “Move quick before it’s too late,” she whispers.

I don’t know who this seat is for, but it’s pretty clear this seat is meant for someone who has already claimed it, so I quickly get up and move to another seat at the other side of the classroom. With a quick look around I check to see if she is watching were I’ve just sat down. When she doesn’t take any notice of me I figure this seat must be ok.

Taking my notebook and pen from my backpack I settle into the desk. The teacher Ms Davis hasn’t arrived yet, but it’s not long before I hear the click clack of high heels not too far in the distance. She enters the room arching a brow and the class begins to quiet. My eyes follow her striding across the floor with a sway in her hips. Coming to a stop at the front of her desk, she crosses her arms clearing her throat commanding the full attention of the room. She’s tall and slim with short red hair and looks to be in her early thirties. Her outfit is elegant, wearing a knee length pencil skirt, a white silk blouse, and cashmere cardigan.

“Good morning everyone and welcome back to another year at Rose Bay Academy. I see we have some fresh faces in class today. Don’t panic, I’m not going to make you stand up in front of everyone and tell me your names,” she jokes, uncrossing her arms. "Now I know you’re all well aware that this is going to be your last year here with us. With that in mind I want you all to know what my expectations of you as seniors are going to be. That is I expect you to pay full attention in my class and to give me your best in preparation for college. You put in what you get back, so keep that in mind. If you work hard you will reap the rewards. If you’re arrive late or miss any of my classes without a note then we're going to have a problem. Is that understood?”
