Page 54 of His to Ruin

“Jordin,” I reply stretching my hand out to take his. He doesn’t shake my hand. Instead he smoothly pulls me tight into his body.

“Smooth move,” I tell him.

He gives me a full toothed smile.

“Did I mention you’re the most beautiful girl in this place?”

I don’t answer. This guy is a major flirt but instead of pushing him away I let go, allowing him to move his muscled body against mine. It isn’t long before the crowd erupts in a commotion chanting “FIGHT. FIGHT. FIGHT.” It isn’t until a girl standing in front of me moves that I see Saint pounding into the guy Lexy was dancing with.

“What the fuck,” Logan roars looking towards the fight. “LUCAS,” he yells letting go of me abruptly, taking off towards his friend with haste. I rush over to Lexy who is now screaming for Saint to stop.

She’s shaking like a leaf by the time I reach her. We can’t do anything but watch as Logan tries to grab Saint from behind to pull him off his friend but out of nowhere Caleb charges into the fight taking a swing at Logans face punching him square in the jaw. Logans head snaps to the side by the force of it but he quickly recovers punching Caleb back with a resounding whack. The sound almost makes me want to vomit. They each take several swings at each other until grown men that look like body builders seem to come out of nowhere breaking everyone apart. It takes two of them to pull an enraged Saint off Logan’s friend. Saints yelling that if he touches her again he’s a dead man. My heart skips a beat when Caleb’s eyes lock on mine, wiping blood off the corner of his split lip that’s tipped in a half smile. It’s almost as if he got off on the fight.

“PARTYS OVER. EVERYONE GET THE FUCK OUT,” one of the big guys roars whilst Logan helps Lucas off the floor. I gag when blood begins to stream from his nose down to his jaw.

Lexy and I stay rooted to the spot as the crowd quickly disperses from the house.

“We good here?” one of the men asks Saint.

“I had it handled. I didn’t fucking ask for you to step in Chains,” Saint replies.

The man who Saint called Chains gathers the rest of the men he came in with ordering them to check the grounds to make sure everyone left. When they all leave the room it’s just the five of us left standing.

“I tried to warn you,” Colton whispers into Lexy ear as Saint knock back a shot of neat whisky.

Lexy sees red running to Saint, punching him in the chest multiple times screaming in his face in indignation.

“WHY DO YOU ALWAYS HAVE TO FUCKING RUIN EVERYTHING?”

He lets her continue for a few seconds before grabbing her wrists to stop her.

“Why do you always have to be such a fucking brat?” he retorts with a devious smirk on his face, but his tone isn’t cutting like it always is with her. It’s weird but it could almost be mistaken for being playful.

I gasp when he lifts her clean off the floor throwing her over his broad shoulder. She yelps out in surprise for a split second before cussing him out demanding he put her down.

He doesn’t.

I go to help her but Caleb grabs my waist pulling me into him as Lexy kicks her legs and arms in protest. Saint ignores her carrying her off towards the stairs at ease like she weighs nothing telling Caleb and Colton to get me home safe before taking the stairs two at a time.

“Let’s go,” Caleb barks at me.

I glower at him.

“Oh hell no. I’m not going anywhere with you until I know my friend is safe and away from that psychopath.”

“Careful,” Colton warns sternly.

“I wasn’t asking Princess and unless you don’t want to walk out of here on your own two feet, I suggest you move,” Caleb warns, his last two words sounding like a threat.

“Were you dropped at birth? Is that it? Hit the head maybe?” I say gesturing to his forehead. “Cause you’re not listening. I’m going no….”

“That’s it,” he says cutting me off, lifting me clean off the floor just like Saint did to Lexy and hoists me over his shoulder like I’m a sack of potatoes.

I don’t fight him or protest. What good will it do me? It’s not only futile but a waste of my almost spent energy.

The cool night air feels good on my skin when we get outside and I’m a slightly taken aback by way Caleb gently sets me on my feet next to his car given how rough he just was with me inside.

He mumbles something to Colton about texting him later but Colton’s already in his car firing up the engine with a face of thunder. Something unspoken passes between them that I can’t decipher. His annoyance at whatever it is made crystal clear when he leans over to his passenger side and holds up two fingers before speeding off down the gravelled driveway with bits of stones flying everywhere. Caleb lets out a loud chuckle. Surely that has nothing to do with me, right?
