He’s about to answer when suddenly I’m twirled around switching places with the old lady Caleb was dancing with bowing straight into Caleb’s strong arms. His intoxicating scent immediately envelops me like a warm blanket I want to snuggle into.

“Miss me princess?”

“Careful Caleb. Your little followers around school might see you. Wouldn’t want Christy finding out about you being seen in the arms of another girl now would we?” I taunt but allow him to move our bodies together in a slow dance. I look into his hard eyes noticing them begin to soften.

His breath tickles the nape of my neck when he leans into my ear lobe.

“I love it when you get all jealous. Makes me hard.”

He’s not lying. I can feel exactly how hard he is against my stomach.

“You need to actually like the person to feel jealousy, and I feel nothing for you. Get over yourself,” I lie.

He cocks his head to the side pinning me with his blue eyes.

“So you’re saying that if I was to pull aside that sinful dress you’re wearing to the side and run my fingers up those soft thighs to your sweet cunt that I wouldn’t feel you dripping for me?”

“Only in your dreams will I ever allow you to touch me again.”

His face hardens. “I know you think something went on between me and Georgina the other day, but nothing happened.”

“Like I said. I don’t care what you do.”

I look him dead in the eyes before dropping my hands from his shoulders and turn away from him to look for Lexy, but he pulls me back into him.

“Look at me.”

I look everywhere except to him but he forces my chin up locking my brown eyes to his blue ones.

“Nothing’s happened between me and her. Or any other girl in school since I met you Jordin. That’s the truth whether you choose to believe it or not.”

I lean into him until are lips almost touch. “See that’s the thing Caleb. I don’t believe you. Your actions speak much louder than your words.”

I confidently walk off the dance floor to find Lexy. It’s not about believing him. It’s about trust and honesty. If you don’t have that then you have nothing and I won’t go through that with another man again. Either Caleb tells me straight that he’s all in or I walk away. No more stolen kisses will go unclaimed.

I find Lexy sitting at a table alone. Taking the empty seat next to her I ask what’s wrong as she looks ready to burst into tears at a moment’s notice.

“I can’t stand it Jordin; I can’t watch this in front of my eyes for a minute longer.”

My eyes shift to the direction her watery eyes are fixed on. It’s at Saint with a beautiful blond haired girl in a mini dress swooning all over him.

Hugging her I ask, “what do you need?”

“I need to leave,” she says standing holding out her hand for me to take.

“Let’s grab the most expensive bottle we can find and have our own party in my room.”

“Wont your mom know your missing?”

She shrugs, “I don’t care. I’ve done my bit. I’ve painted on every smile, posed for every picture, and played the part of the happy daughter. I’m done pretending.

Chapter Thirty-eight

Jordin

Anotherweekrollsby.

Its Saturday, the night of Ketch. To say Lexy has cheered up some is an understatement. She’s been kinda off and quiet all week. I put it down to having to share a house on her own with Saint whilst their parents were away on their honeymoon, even though I did offer for her to stay with me countless times. I wish I could say the same. I can’t seem to snap myself out of the hurt I saw in Caleb’s eyes when I walked away from him on the dance floor at the wedding. Even if I did believe that nothing happened it doesn’t change anything between us. It doesn’t change how much I still want him either, but I can’t chase what I can’t have. No matter how much he pulls me in, he always pulls back.
