“Can someone please explain what’s going on here?” he demands, his eyes filtering between us as I step closer toward him.

“I tripped and fell into my locker, Sir. Lexy and Saint were just helping me up,” Georgina answers, touching the cut above her brow, her words laced with practiced innocence. She’s smarter than she looks. Still, it was high time I paid her father a visit to keep his daughter in check. She needs to learn to keep her mouth shut where Lexy and Jordin are concerned.

Mr. Wyatt’s skeptical gaze lingers on Georgina. “Doesn’t look like you fell,” he responds, assessing the extent of Georgina’s facial injury.

“If Georgina said she fell, then she fell,” I chime in, my tone stern.

Wyatt’s expression hardens as he surveys the dispersing crowd around us. “Haven’t you all got homes to go to? Move along!” The onlookers scatter, leaving Wyatt to refocus his attention on us.

He turns back to Georgina, pulling a handkerchief from a packet in the front pocket of his suit jacket, and places it against the cut on her forehead. “You need to get that seen to,” he states with concern before turning to Lexy. “I expected better behavior from you, Alexa,” he reprimands before escorting Georgina away. He knew damn well Georgina didn’t fall. He just couldn’t prove it. Even if he could, he’s not brave enough to go against me.

“What was all that about?” Jordin’s voice breaks through my concentration; I hadn’t even noticed her standing there.

“Lexy here just knocked queen bitch off the top spot,” Colton cheers, his admiration for Lexy evident in his smile.

Jordin’s eyes widened. “You did?”

Lexy responds with a wicked smile, acknowledging the unspoken victory. I instinctively pulled her to my side, clasping our hands together.

“Freaking right she did,” Colton cheers, giving Lexy a high five, making her laugh. “You were a badass.”

Lexy’s smile is huge as we walk together down the hall toward the front doors.

“I’m sorry, but that bitch has had that coming,” Jordin says. “If it wasn’t you, it was going to be me.”

“Our girl showed her who was boss,” Colton replies proudly.

“I think you mean my girl,” I sternly remind Colton, and Lexy shoots me a scowl. My jaw ticks. He’s calling her “our girl,” yet she scowls at me for correcting him! She isn’t our girl. She’s fucking mine. Only mine.

“Alright, caveman. That’s enough fighting for one day.” Her fingers tighten around mine, turning her scowl into a beautiful smile. “Take me home?”

My cock jolts. Home it is.

We step outside into the cool air and say our goodbyes when Jordin catches Lexy’s arm. “Wait. Before you go. I need your help with something.”

“Sure thing. What do ya need?”

Jordin’s cheeks stain crimson making me wonder what it is she wants. “I wanted to ask you this in private, but didn’t get the chance to see you earlier.”

“Ask me what?” Lexy’s brows lower, her curiosity heightened.

“Ian’s taking me out of school for the next few days to find a suitable wedding dress and to prepare for the wedding,” Jordin looks away, picking at her fingernails. “I was wondering if you would help me. As my maid of honor.”

FUCK!

Lexy drops my hand, bringing her own to cover her mouth, giving me a pleading look to tell Jordin the truth, but I say nothing.

Jordin turns away, nervous and embarrassed. “I knew it was a bad idea. I’m so sorry I asked.”

Lexy shoots me a questioning glare, my eyebrows rising as she subtly gestures towards Jordin. She’s urging me to tell her the truth, but I can’t waver. Not now. Revealing the truth could jeopardize everything, especially with Marcus’s pending release coming up. Lexy answers Jordin when I stand firm.

“Eh-mm. No. No, it’s not a bad idea. I mean, sure, the circumstances are utter shit.” Lexy turns to me, then reverts back to Jordin. “But if it was my wedding, I’d want my best friend to be there alongside me too. So yes. Of course, I’ll be your maid of honor.”

A massive smile lights up Jordin’s face. “Really? You would?”

Lexy’s voice breaks a little when the two girls embrace one another. “I wouldn’t have it any other way.”
