“All nameless, except for one person. Alexa Winters.”

Fury explodes from his throat. “He was going to sell Lexy? His own stepdaughter!”

“Don’t,” I warn. I can’t even allow the thought of her being taken away from me to enter my brain, or I’ll completely lose it. I’m just about holding it together as it is.

Caleb reaches into his pocket, pulls out his cigarette pack, and lights one up.

“Where is she now?”

“She’s upstairs watching some show on Netflix with Colton. I’ve already filled him in on everything. He won’t let her out of his sight. There’s no one else I trust to keep her safe.”

I know there’s nothing between them except friendship, and I can’t allow my jealousy to get in the way of her safety.

“I don’t know about Chains and where he stands with all this, but Owl knew. He was the one taking the girls for Eric.”

I nod knowingly.

Caleb takes a long drag of his cigarette and then blows out a plume of smoke. “FUCK ME.”

“There’s one more recording you haven’t heard yet.” I hand him the tape, continuing. “It was hard to make out at first, but I had it cleaned up. The setup with Marcus. It was them. Both of them.”

“Ian knew?”

“Ian arranged the setup.”

A growl rumbles in his chest. “Judas bastard.”

“Ian knew Viola was pregnant and that Marcus went behind his back to hide her from him.”

“Jesus Christ! I can’t fucking believe this.”

“I need to see Marcus without my dad finding out.”

“You know what needs to happen, Saint. They murdered Jordin’s mom, your grandfather, and they tried to kill us.”

I nod in complete agreement. My dad made the wrong decision when he decided to go against his own blood.

“It won’t be easy getting to him. They have so many in their pockets that it’s bound to get noticed.”

“How do you want to play this?”

“I won’t have Eric’s murder coming back to this house or the people in it. We’ll need to get a message to Marcus from the inside. Let him know what we found concerning Viola, why he’s in jail, and that we want to arrange a meeting.”

“What if he thinks it’s nothing more than a ploy to get to him?”

“He has nothing left to lose. Besides, the news will have reached him by now that Jordin’s been found and is getting married to me.”

He quirks a brow.

“Don’t get your panties in a fucking twist, brother. You know what I mean.”

“What do you need me to do in the meantime?”

“I need you in the city tonight. Gerry owes us fifty grand, and his deadline to pay it back has now expired. Crack a few skulls if you need to. Let them know we’re in charge now and show them what happens to those who don’t pay back their debts.”

Caleb smiles wickedly, cracking each knuckle, ready to vent out his rage as I knew he would be. “What are you going to do?”

“Jim’s on his way here. He’s going to learn there’s a new boss in town.”
