He closed his eyes. “Give me a few minutes. Rather than pretty good, it’s going to be fucking great.” He grinned, then planted a kiss on her shoulder.

Tarley laughed. “That’s what I love about you. You never give up.”

“Where there’s a will, there’s a way.”

An overwhelming feeling crashed over her, and she tightened her hold on him. “I love you.”

He pulled her closer. “I’m going to spend my life earning it.”

“My love is yours not because of what you do, Lachlan,” she said, running her hands over his skin, grateful to be able to do it, “but because you’re Lachlan—my Lachlan.”

He opened his eyes to study her, skimming her face, then moving forward until she was on her back again, and he was seated between her thighs. “I know something I’m really good at, and I’m only going to get better with practice.”

“What’s that?” she asked, knowing he was about to say something cheeky.

Only he said, “Loving you,” and leaned forward meeting her lips with his. He rolled onto his back, pulling her with him until she straddled his hips. Then he laid back and looked up, his eyes roving over her. “I think it will be the single greatest thing I have ever done in my entire life.”

Tarley’s heart answered with a jolt. She smiled—completely open and content—then she leaned down, pressing her lips to his to show him just how much.
