“What the fuck?” he sneers, his lip curling up on a snarl. “Why the hell are you here?”

“I, um, I . . .”

“Doesn’t matter. Turn your ass around and get the fuck out of here,” he snarls, getting in my face. “I don’t need some clingy bitch I nailed coming around trying to hang all over me.”

I swallow back my fear at him speaking to me this way. But what he says also upsets me because that’s not who I am, and he’s not letting me explain why I’m there. Though my heart is breaking further, I straighten my spine and hold out the bags. “If you’ll take these and give them to Gianna, I would greatly appreciate it.” I all but shove the stuff in his arms and step back. “And for the record, I didn’t even know I’d run into you again. I’m not some clingy bimbo you hooked up with. Sure, we did hook up, but that doesn’t mean I need to chase after you to get more. I can easily take care of myself for the same response.”

With my parting shot, I spin on my heel and stalk away from him as fast as I can without making it seem like he affected me. In the safety of my car, I turn the key and head home, my heart completely shattering at the thought I was so wrong about him. The connection I thought I felt with him was nothing but the lust we both were in the thralls of for one night only.

CHAPTERFOUR

WAR

“Damn, brother, that was fuckin’ harsh,” Maverick whistles from his spot at the bar.

“Who was she?” Pirate asks.

I glance down at the shit she shoved into my hands, her words repeating themselves in my head.“And for the record, I didn’t even know I’d run into you again. I’m not some clingy bimbo you hooked up with. Sure, we did hook up, but that doesn’t mean I need to chase after you to get more. I can easily take care of myself for the same response.”

Fuck.

She was Shyann. The woman I haven’t been able to get off my mind.

Shaking my head, I ignore my brother’s question and take Gianna’s stuff to her room. Sabrina said someone was bringing some stuff to the clubhouse for my sister. I just didn’t know who it was.

Outside my sister’s room, I suck in a breath and knock on the door.

“Come in.” I hear Sabrina call out. That woman is a godsend. She’s stuck close, taking care of Gianna since we brought her back.

I twist the knob and step into the room, closing the door behind me. My eyes go straight to the bed where my sister is sitting up, the blanket up to her waist covering her bottom half and a tee someone must have given her yesterday.

“Hey,” I murmur, holding her stuff. “Got the stuff you wanted.”

“Where’s Shyann?” she asks, brows furrowed in worry.

“Gave me the stuff and left.” I move closer, put the stuff on the bed, and step back, crossing my arms while glancing at Sabrina. “Mind if I have a few minutes alone with my sister.”

“Yeah, I’ll go get her something to eat,” Sabrina responds, glancing at my sister and points. “You don’t get out of that bed until I’m back. We don’t know the effects yet and how it will affect you completely.”

What the fuck?

Gianna swallows and nods, looking nervous. “I’ll stick here until you get back.”

“Good,” Sabrina murmurs and leaves the room.

“You wanna explain that shit to me, and what the fuck happened? How you ended up being taken?” I demand harshly, my lips curling up at the corner in frustration.

“Would you like to tell me why Shyann didn’t bring the stuff in here herself?” she counters, quirking a brow in annoyance.

“We’re not talking about that until you explain what the fuck happened.” There’s no way I’m gonna tell my sister that I banged her friend two weeks ago and flipped my shit on her after seeing her again.

“War, what the hell did you do?” Gianna demands, narrowing her gaze on me.

“Told you we’re talking about what the fuck you went through. Now start fuckin’ talkin’ Gianna, or I swear to God, I will strangle you myself.”

She knows I wouldn’t put a hand on her, but that doesn’t me I won’t say I will. We’ve been known to fight like cats and dogs sometimes. However, in the end, we always work shit out. You can’t go against the world without having each other’s backs and not argue amongst ourselves sometimes.

Sighing, Gianna starts talking. “I’ve been working on a piece for my blog.”
