His deep voice resonates in his chest, momentarily taking me by surprise. It takes me a second to realise he’s asked me a question. “Tell me about your planet, and the people who live on it.”

“What do you want to know?”

“Tell me about your...males. Are you mated to one?”

A laugh-huff comes up from my throat unexpectedly. “There aren’t enough men on the planet for me to be,” I laugh at the phrase he used, “mated to. We have a gender crisis. It’s the reason why I left Earth. Planet Vysaria made contact with my planet and organised an exchange. A chance for women to be matched in an exchange programme to their men. Earth wanted technology in exchange. The shared technology enabled us to build the spaceship that brought the first five women thousands if not millions of miles across two galaxies in an eight-month maiden journey.”

He looks down at me with a frown. “You have no mate?”

My jaw drops open. “Is that all you took from that information dump?” I shake my head. “No, I have no mate. That’s why I came here. I wanted to find my own...mate.” His brow lifts and I see hunger behind his eyes. It makes my pussy dance again. I need to distract myself from this new curious feeling between my legs. “My planet has vast areas similar to the forest below, only our leaves are greens and reds. The planet is two-thirds water, so the other third is a mix of natural environments and large suburban areas. These are divided into countries. I’m from a large one called the United States of America.” My curiosity has been peaked about Phalon since he saved me after realising I was a woman. “Tell me about what your planet used to be like.”

He sighs, a long sad sigh that makes my chest ache. “It was such a beautif—”

He stops mid-word and I can feel his muscles tensing beneath me. “What? What is it?”

“They’ve found me.”

My head snatches to face the direction he’s looking in, but I can’t see anyone. “Who? Who’s found you?”

“My clan. Hold on. I’m going to dive.”

“Wha-” I just manage to snatch a breath of air before Pharis tilts us forward and we fall, dive bombing in a vertical drop from the sky. My stomach feels as if it detaches from my insides. This is the worst theme-park ride I’ve had the misfortune of riding twice.

The ground once again comes swiftly closer. I’m experiencing nightmare deja vous. Then a screeching high-pitched noise coming from our right sends the tiny hairs covering my entire body on end. Gravity isn’t letting me lift my head to see what or who the hell it is, but something in my soul tells me I’m in worst trouble than I was when I was seconds from becoming a bloody pulp yesterday.

Phalon

A roar that sets my teeth on edge makes my eyes fling open, but it’s the worst decision. I see two aliens who are the same species as Phalon come at us from either side, just as we are about to hit the ground.

Thankfully, Phalon’s flying skills are no match for them, and he swoops out of the way before they can grab us, making them crash together at full speed. The sound of their bodies slamming into one another is like a head-on collision. I hear them fall heavily to the ground, which is just metres below, as Phalon swoops between trees.

I hold my breath. The edges of his wings brush against the tree, casting leaves from their branches which tumble haphazardly to the ground, a confetti of colour. I dare to glance back and see the Badligons fall heavily to the ground.

When I turn back to look forward again, a grin is stretched across my face. It instantly disappears when I see how the gaps between the trees ahead are getting tighter, and my heart rate speeds up. There is no way we can maintain this speed with a full wingspan, if we don’t stop soon, we’ll be in as bad a shape as the two Badligons who just crashed.

Thankfully, Phalon draws his wings in and our speed quickly reduces until he lands on his feet.

“We need to stay undercover of the trees. There will be more than two of them out there searching for me.” He places me down and as soon as his hands withdraw from me, I feel vulnerable and exposed. His eyes rest on my chest and I follow them down. My nipples are still protruding through the thin material of my tight black t-shirt. My hands fly up to my breasts to cover them.

A noise from behind Phalon makes him spin around in the direction it came from. When He turns back to me, I see a look of alarm in his eyes. “We need to go. Follow me.”

Looking past him, I can’t see anyone, but I can hear them. There is a rustle of foliage and angry snarls which sound as if they are coming from more than one person, and more than one direction.

I’m rooted to the spot in fear. Phalon grabs my hand and runs, dragging me behind him. For a man who normally uses flying as his primary mode for getting about, he’s very nifty on his talloned feet.

“Is it others from your clan?”

“Yes. We can’t let them capture us...especially you.”

My heart thunders in my chest. “Why? Because they’ll eat me?”

“Yes, but not before they fuck you first.”

“Oh my god.”

My legs wobble with the shock of what he’s just admitted, and I let go of Phalon’s hand and collapse to the ground feeling as if the bones in my legs have melted. Phalon runs on another ten feet and immediately halts when he notices I’ve let go of him. He spins around to face me, his eyes wide with alarm as he looks down at me and then quickly left and right.

“Felicity, what are you doing? They’re almost upon us. We need to get to open ground so we can take to the sky again.”
