My hips receded for half a heartbeat and snapped forward. We were both lost after that. I gripped her ass, pulling her into me with every driving thrust. The world didn’t exist anymore—only us.

Her fingers tangled in my hair as our mouths fused. Our kisses are wild, our tongues colliding, carnal, and everything we both needed. I knew the second she was going to come. Her breaths grew ragged, and her thighs locked around my waist. She moaned. . .and fucking shattered.

My release followed seconds later, and I growled, shuddering and holding her to me until I collapsed against her, completely sated. Fuck. Sex with her was unlike anything I ever experienced with another woman. No comparison.

“Love you, beautiful,” I whispered against her mouth.

“I love you, Talon.”

Chapter 14

“Is Talon still sleeping?”

I joined my brother for breakfast, sliding across from him as I watched him dunk toast in egg yolk and then scoop egg on top before taking a bite. “Yes. He would never admit weakness, but he needs the rest.”

“No crow would,” he answered as he swallowed.

“True.” I took a sip of tea and placed the mug on the table. “I’ve been thinking about what Carrion said.”

“Which part?” Crow gulped coffee and emptied the mug. He pushed his empty plate aside. “Remind me.”

“He said Rook left something for me.”

“Oh, that.” Crow shrugged. “If he did, I wouldn’t know. It would be crazy to find something hidden around here. There’s no goddamn privacy.”

“I guess you’re right.”

“But, if you want to search The Roost. Go for it. No one will stop you. If they try, send them to me.”

“That wouldn’t end well.”

“Exactly.”

“I have this weird feeling in my gut.”

“Weird, how?”

“Like we’re supposed to walk into the basement.”

Crow sat back. “I don’t think that’s a good idea. You don’t want to see what we keep down there.”

“I know it’s probably old junk,” I began.

“No, nightingale. It’s where we use force to get information.”

Oh. Yuck. “Is there blood?”

“Bloodstains, maybe.”

I wrinkled my nose. “Then you’re coming with me.”

He sighed. “Alright. Let’s go.”

“Right now?”

“Right now.”

Crow pushed up from the table, and I followed him, snaking our way through the other tables and exiting the dining area. He held out his elbow, and I looped my arm around his, smiling at the man who earned his big brother status more every single time we spoke.
