Her nails dug into his shoulders lightly in need and desire as she looked into his eyes. Their mouths met again in a hot, hungry kiss that spoke volumes about what they both wanted from each other.

Their hips moved together in a sensual rhythm that left them both panting for air as the fire crackled behind them, casting dancing shadows on the wall. His other hand roamed down to squeeze one of her breasts, teasing her nipple with his thumb while his hips continued to move with hers. Moans echoed around them as their bodies became entwined, seeking release from this unspoken tension that had built since they'd first met.

Their lips never parting, Derek and Iris moved together in perfect sync, their bodies meshing together on the sofa. She felt every inch of him inside her with each deep thrust, pleasure coursing through her veins as he bottomed out with a groan.

His other hand squeezed one of her ass cheeks, pulling her closer to him as he claimed her mouth in a hot, needy kiss. Her tongue danced with his, tasting his sweet desire mixed with the salty taste of their sweat.

Arching her back further, Iris gasped at the feeling of being filled so completely. Her eyes rolled back in pleasure as he pinned her down without breaking the kiss, his hips moving harder now, filling her fully with each stroke. She moaned into his mouth, her fingers clawing into his shoulders in need of more friction while she squirmed beneath him.

He growled low in his throat and pulled away from the kiss to nip at her jawline before taking one of her nipples between his teeth, hard enough to make her cry out … but not too much. He sucked and teased it with his tongue until it stood at full attention.

Their bodies clung to each other like two magnets. The warmth of the fireplace and the sweat that coated them, mixed with the lingering scent of salty desire and firewood, all contributed to an electric atmosphere.

As he slid deeper into her wet heat with every thrust, she cried out, her legs wrapping around his waist as if to pull him closer still. Her sensitive shifter nose was nearly overwhelmed by the heavy scent of sex in the air. It was unlike anything she had ever experienced.

Her plump bottom lip quivered under his hungry kisses, her breath hitching in her throat as he nipped at it. She let out a soft whimper when he sucked on her neck, teeth grazing her skin lightly before moving back up to capture her lips again in a deep kiss that left both of them panting for air between breaths.

His hand slid down to rub against the sensitive skin behind her thigh, a move that drove her wild. She arched into him even more desperately, begging for release with every undulating motion of their hips.

Their groans mingled as they rocked against one another, finding a rhythm that echoed off the walls around them. His hips pounded into hers harder, filling her with each thrust. She felt him grow bigger inside her with every passing moment. He was close. She was closer.

Derek quickened his tempo, and his thrusts became frantic. Her release washed over her in waves of the most intense pleasure she'd ever experienced. Screaming his name as she climaxed made him move faster. Within moments, his body tensed, and he released his seed deep within her.

Panting heavily, they lay in each other's arms until their breathing returned to normal.

"Fuck, that was incredible," Derek moaned.

Iris was so consumed by her post-orgasm bliss that all she could do was merely nod, but she did agree with him. Maybe the mating bond wasn’t so bad after all.

NINE

DEREK

Derek woke before dawn, eager to see the joy he hoped his surprise would spark in Iris's leaf-green eyes. Moving quietly so as not to disturb her sleep, he slipped out to gather ingredients from the kitchen. Soon, the sizzling scent of frying bacon and browning breakfast potatoes permeated the alpha’s suite.

By the time pale, gold light filtering through the windows heralded sunrise, Derek had finished cooking and arranging a hearty spread on a tray … fluffy eggs, crispy bacon, herbs potatoes, fresh fruit, and orange juice. He carefully transported the laden tray to the nightstand just as Iris began stirring.

"I could get used to waking up to such tantalizing smells," she purred, sitting up among the plush furs as he presented her breakfast in bed. Her initial delighted surprise morphed into touched affection at his effort.

They lingered over the meal, chatting lightly about pack matters in between tender bites fed from fingers and shy smiles over juice glasses. The easy intimacy made Derek's wolf preen happily. Their new bond was already flourishing, foundations laid in trust.

When the last crumb had disappeared, Derek set aside the tray and took Iris's hands, love and hope shining in his eyes. "I hoped we could slip away together this morning, just the two of us." At her curious look, he continued. "There's a weekly farmer’s market in a nearby town that I think you'll enjoy. Rare herbalist vendors, artisans, that sort of thing."

Delight sparked in her face at the prospect. Putting her hair in an easy ponytail and dressing in comfortable Sunday morning clothing, she was ready to go. Hand in hand, Derek led her along the winding forest path bathed in fragments of morning sunlight. When the trail widened into a sun-dappled clearing, Derek caught Iris around the waist, spinning her delightedly before pulling her flush against him. Her skin was dewy, fragrant as forest blossoms.

"Have I mentioned how devastatingly beautiful you are, even with twigs in your hair?" he murmured, plucking a leaf from her mussed locks. She swatted his shoulder but leaned closer, eyes dancing.

"You don't look too bad yourself, sir," Iris teased, trapping his wandering hand flat over her racing heart. "Now, I believe you promised me a magical market experience."

"So demanding," Derek nipped her ear playfully, thrilled at her joyful laughter. "Well, far be it from me to neglect my Luna on a fine morning such as this."

Iris rose on her toes to steal a swift kiss. Then, hands clasped, they continued down the dappled path toward town.

Derek inhaled the mingled scents of fresh-turned soil, wildflowers, and sun-warmed fruit as he and Iris wandered into the bustling farmer's market situated in the rural town's brick-paved square. His wolf spirit always felt at peace surrounded by the earthy bounty of nature, hints of the wilderness acting as a comforting counterpoint amid the cheerful cries of vendors.

Rustic wooden stalls formed haphazard rows across the open space, draped with billowing canvas awnings in sunny yellows and greens. Farmers arranged overflowing baskets of just-picked greens, barrels of apples, bushels of corn, and handmade clay pots bursting with herbs. Glass windchimes tinkled in the subtle breeze, sending flecks of rainbow light dancing.

Iris turned her shining eyes his way, alight with awe and enchantment. All of the sounds and smells tickled his own sharp shifter senses, and he could tell by the look on her face she found it just as pleasing as he did. She looked utterly in her element here among the plants and botanical wares. Derek's heart swelled at her unrestrained joy as she flitted excitedly from one herbal stand to the next, carefully inspecting each offering.
